Where and what?
Set in the pretty nature reserve of Cala d'Hort is the small charming and perfectly formed beach of Cala Carbo, one of Ibiza's most private ones and just 8km from the village of San José with the beautiful little resort of Cala Vadella only 4km away.
Why go?
Cala Carbo is like a secret beach that's not too hard to get to. Even in the height of summer, the beach is never too crowded as it is off the usual tourist track. If you like a bit of privacy and quiet then this is the place to come. Apart from the glass-bottomed boats that pass by a couple of times a day, expect to sunbathe and swim in relative calm.
Things to do
Because of its position in the South West, you will get some incredible sunsets here, so take a swim and luxuriate with the fantastic colours at that time. For food and drink, either you'll have to get supplies from the supermarket in San José or there are two very good rustic eateries at the beach. The chiringuito serves Ibicenco food, favouring fresh fish, including bullit de peix fish stew and lobster stew. More fish can be had at the other restaurant, named La Sardinia Loca, or the ‘crazy sardine'. Because of its crystal clear waters, this beach is also a snorkeler's paradise.
How to get there
Coming from San Antonio or San José, follow the signs to Cala Vadella and Cala Tarida. Note that the small parking space does get filled quickly in July and August.
