Where and what?
In between San Antonio and San José is this beautifully preserved white village on top of a hill that looks like a living painting. San Agustín is surrounded by hills and trees and has just three main streets. It's small and perfectly formed.
What's the story?
This small village is surrounded by fields of vines, many of which have broken into the wild. You'll see a few wineries around too who make a delcious and fruity local red wine. It is also the place where you will see some impressive traditional Ibicenco architecture.
Why go?
There are only three main streets, and they are pretty ones, lined with houses with lots of charming casas payesas with unusual chimneys and neat trimmed hedges. The church, whilst relatively unadorned inside, is a striking example of the cubic-style design you will see in many of Ibiza's old buildings. There's a couple of art galleries, one of which is in the restaurant, Can Berri Vell.
How do I enjoy it?
This is the place to come and forget about the rest of the world and take in the tranquility and prettiness of the place. Come, stop for a drink, walk around the village and take some snaps. Each year on 28 August is the patron saint's day with traditional dance, a procession and a concert to take you into the night. Even if you don't make this, you should go here because it is very special.
