Organic? We've got it all.

Ibizeneco is a small but highly successful Organic Vegetable Delivery service on the island.

A few weeks ago I heard about quite a special offer on the island. Two young men, Doron & Tsuri are behind the successful Ibizeneco Organic Vegetables project.

Ibiza isn’t shy of organic vegetables and there’s many places to shop for them. However the boys have taken it a step further, offering free island-wide delivery (at specific locations).
I popped along to meet them and had an afternoon that was far more entertaining than expected…

The project really started when Doron contacted a farmer in Israel who was reputed to be an expert in organic vegetable growing. It transpired the expert was really his son, Tsuri, who just happened to be touring Spain at the time. Doron contacted him and intrigued, Tsuri flew to the island directly.

The next bit of luck was finding a farmer who happily gave them the use of a huge, sixteen year old greenhouse, in exchange for a few of the vegetables that were to be grown. It was here that I met the boys on yet another fabulous sunny afternoon. (Ibiza in May is wonderful! Not too hot, days and days of sunshine & just the occasional splattering of rain to clear the air. Bliss)

Doron and Tsuri have a passion for their project that wraps you up and carries you along, as they tell you one interesting fact after another, whilst stood right in the middle of an extraordinary array of vegetables. Everything from which vegetables you should grow side by side (onions between tomatoes and lettuce repels aphids! Who knew? Natures own ‘pest’ control ) to pulling up a kohlrabi (a what? A German turnip. Of course) and offering you a chunk to munch on.

Currently – and prepare yourself – they are growing:
7 types of lettuce,
Celery
Beetroot
Spinach
Mangold
Spring Onions
Leeks
Broccoli
Cauliflower
5 types of tomatoes
3 types of cucumber
Zucchini's
Gala melons,
Aubergines,
Peppers,
Onions and
Green beans.

They also have a heady selection of
Parsley,
Coriander,
Basil
and oh, much more!

As mentioned at the start, what makes these boys stand out from the crowd is free delivery.
Presently they’re establishing locations for this across the island.

What I haven’t mentioned is that as I met Doron & Tsuri I had a friend with me from UK who is not a fan of ‘green things’ generally. Mid-interview I turned around to find him happily sampling a raw organic spinach leaf and declaring that it was ‘quite nice’.
I never thought I’d see the day!

This summer Doron and Tsuri are asking for volunteers to help them with the planting and harvesting. If you’ve ever been interested in learning about growing organic vegetables, this could be a really fun, practical start.

The simplest way to check them out is pop along to their Facebook (Group) page – you can check out what others think too.
Further, you can request to be added to the weekly mailing list so you never miss out on the news and special offers as this team go from strength to strength.
