Oh yes, the winter warming Pintxa route in San Antonio starts its third edition this month. It's a simple concept which has proved brilliantly successful in the last two years – organise a load of bars in the same vicinity to offer lashings of cheap food and drink on the same night and they will be packed to bursting and a good time will be had by all.
So, what's the story this year? Every Thursday from 17th February until 14th April no less than 44 bars in San Antonio Borough will be offering a pintxo and a drink for €2 or a tapa and a drink for €4. To get it off to a rip-roaring start there's a 50% reduction on those prices on Thursday 17th.
The 44 bars are; Ample 32, Babel, Bombadú, Bon Sol, Café del Sol, Café Marla, Confort Plaza, Es Cantó, Es Clot, Es Rebost de Can Prats, Europe, Formentera, Golden Buddha, Hostal Marí, Hostal Marino, Koppas, La Cantina, La Moon, Mesón Es Verro, Nou Prisma, Pino Verde, Rita's Cantina, Sa Polar, S'avaradero, Stephan, Tarba, Tiburón, Tijuana, Urban, Villa Manchega, Xocolata, Zebra, Boulevard, Goa Garden, Hotel Puchet, Marina Playa, Taberna Cebo, Toben, Bonsai, Can Bonet, Can Pou, Can Tixedo, Es Puig, and Kfe Sant Rafel! Don't try and memorise them as there's a handy map available on the official website to print and keep.
Just to keep the bars on their toes, there's a competition for the best tapa, decided by a public vote, which last year was won by the Taberna Cebo.
See you all there?
