The construction industry in Ibiza continues at pace this year despite spectacular problems in other parts of Spain. While construction workers and estate agents alike are joining the dole queues
in droves in places like the Costa Blanca, here on the island an average of a house a day has been built over the last two years.
Figures show that 2006 saw the construction of 450 buildings to be used as dwellings – this includes houses, chalets, villas and blocks of flats. The figure dropped slightly in 2007 but
nevertheless, working on an average figure of 3 people per dwelling, accommodation for 5,500 people has been created.
