Like many parts of the Northern Hemisphere Ibiza is shivering in the icy grip of a cold wave of polar air. Temperatures plummeted 10 degrees over night and the island experienced hail then snow which fell quite thickly in certain area of the island. The local press delighted in publishing photos of Santa Eulalia beach looking like a winter wonderland and the local kids delighted in being let out of school to play snowballs.
The weathermen reported that we experienced temperatures as low as minus four degrees during the night, the lowest it's fallen in the 20 years since 1985. Locals, unaccustomed to freezing weather are wrapped up like Cossacks, and the cafes in town have all got plenty of space available at their normally well populated outside tables. Roll on summer!
