The Senssual opening party was a chilled affair, a nice change from some of the more crowded parties. With a smaller but good crowd, the opening of Senssual shone through at Benimussa Park.
Ibiza-based record label and promoter, Senssual Records is behind this brand new party for Saturdays at the park. Amongst the roster for the event are the likes of Coxswain and Jane Fox, Dedo Rey who take residency spots throughout the season.
On Saturday night, Jim Shaft Ryan warmed us up before Ibiza veteran, the legendary DJ Alfredo stepped up at 20:00 to deliver some old gems. After kicking off the Es Paradis opening a few weeks ago, he delivered the nostalgia again by selecting the best club classics that had the memories come flooding back.
As ever, the abandoned zoo provided the perfect setting for this Magic Kingdom themed event. Dancers in fantastical creature costumes graced the stages and podiums, head to toe in body paint and glitter.
Musically, we were treated to a varied night of house, tech house, techno and some funk and disco tracks. This kept the evening fresh as you never knew what to expect next.

Parfume (Dosem Remix) | Eli & Fur
Deeper vibes came from Dosem's Remix of Parfume by Eli & Fur. This bassy tune pumped through the park early on and set a no hassle chilled out house vibe.
Optimus – Nail
Later on, things were mixed up with some tech house with the help of Nail by Optimus. It was clear the DJs of the night had something to please everyone in the park.
Bessie (MIXED CD) | Shaboom
More deep house came from Shaboom by Bessie as we were taken on a journey through genres this evening.
God Made Me Feel It (Claptone Edit) | Simon & MD X-Spress.
Jim Shaft Ryan hit us with back to back Claptone edits. The first being God Made Me Feel It which provided some funkier beats. This was a personal favourite for me as a lover of the original God Made Me Phunky by MD X-Spress.
The First Time Free (Claptone Remix) - Ultra Nate
The second was Claptone's remix of The First Time For Free. Again the nostalgia flooded back with this one.
Nostalgia (Claude VonStroke Remix) - MØ
A new song to me, but one I've had on repeat since. Just another Claude VonStroke remix sounding as good as ever. The genius never fails to remaster unusual song choices into something interesting.
Horse (Mind Against Remix) | Darlyn Vlys Ft.Haptic
The evening was switched up by this deeper techno sound. It was an atmospheric change up to the rest of the tunes that were played but still, the crowd loved it as much as the last.
You don't know me | Armand Van Helden
As Alfredo got behind the decks, the classics began to flow. All-time fave You Don't Know Me by the legendary Armand Van Helden was up next. The tune sounded good in the open air space of Benimussa Park.
At Night (Kid Crème Funksta Mix) | Shakedown
This remix of At Night sounded even better. As more people arrived at the park, the dance floor began to fill out and people were up dancing and singing the familiar lyrics at each other pull blast with hands in the air.
World, hold on | Bob Sinclar
When the sun started setting and the golden hour was upon us, Bob Sinclar's World, Hold On was an even bigger throwback to bygone clubbing eras. The 2005 hit proved it still holds its worth with the Senssual crowd.
The crowds might have not turned out in their masses for Senssual this week. But, in true Ibiza style, it didn't stop those who were there from partying the night away.
Senssual is back every Saturday at Benimussa park until 31 August.
