We Are Rockstars took Ibiza Rocks Hotel's reputation for big-name DJs one step further in 2012, when it turned Friday nights at the San Antonio hotel into a weekly mash-up of dance music and bass-heavy hedonism.
In 2017 it returned for its sixth outing. However, with Ibiza Rocks Hotel launching itself as the island's new home of the pool party, We Are Rockstars played it differently this past summer as it took on the daytime slot to get in on some proper poolside action. While the residency also moved to Thursdays across its five-date stint, the music policy stood by pushing cutting-edge beats of house, drum & bass, garage and grime.
Thursday 1 June was the first date. In for the big opening was supreme selector Mistajam with the debut of his JamPacked party. Joining the BBC Radio 1 presenter were bass pushers My Nu Leng, UK garage chief MJ Cole, grime queen Shefflon Don and Ibiza Rocks resident DJ Patrick Nazemi.
Elsewhere on the season's roster you had Tom Zanetti & KO Kane, who brought their much-lauded Sleepin Is Cheatin brand to the poolside on 8 June, with guests including island regular Preditah. On 22 June, it was the turn of Ibiza Rocks mainstay Example and partner in tunage crime DJ Wire. Alongside this pair were TQD, Crazy Cousinz, Holf Goof and The Dream Team. In for the last instalment on 13 July was drum & bass producer Wilkinson, with support from Redlight, J Hus, Cadenza and Patrick Nazemi.
With We Are Rockstars you got a solid snapshot of UK underground dance culture, with a load of big names you already know and a batch of names you would have soon wanted to know.
You could have also enhanced your party by combining it with the REVERB Boat Party, which included entry to Ibiza Rocks Hotel!
