Tunes of the month | December

Our favourite tracks from November.

Have you started streaming the likes of Mariah Carey, Wham and Cliff Richard in a fit of premature festivity? Or are you belting out New Order, Fat Les and The Lightening Seeds in a bout of national sporting solidarity? It's a weird time to be listening to the radio.

Let's reset, even if only briefly, to bring you our monthly round-up of dancefloor releases.

It might only be a temporary reprieve, but we trust that these selections will have you hankering for the club.

David Guetta & MORTEN feat Raye | You Can't Change Me | Future Rave | 4 November

Long term friends and collaborators David Guetta and MORTEN projected their vision of Future Rave onto Friday nights at Hï Ibiza earlier this summer. Now the pair expand on that concept, by launching a label under the same name.

You Can't Change Me features a vocal assist from Raye, layered over a Trance riff that buzzes with dark energy, providing an interesting contrast to her dulcet tones.

You'll no doubt recognise the location used in the video. Naturally, it was recorded in The Theatre at DJ Mag's world's number one club during the duo's summer residency.

The Blessed Madonna | Serotonin Moonbeams | Warner Music | 11 November

Need a bit of a pick-me-up? Omnipresent conscience of dance music The Blessed Madonna returns with an uplifting slice of piano-littered, Pop-leaning House music. American-French vocalist Uffie, best known for working with Pharrell Williams on ADD SUV, is the featured artist.

Despite this being her first solo material for over five years, we can expect an avalanche of new music from Marea in 2023. Her debut artist album is nearing completion.

Route 94 | Clapped | Solid Grooves | 11 November

Taking up our next berth, Route 94 debuts on Solid Grooves.

Chalking off yet another top label on his hit-list, he makes a welcome return to releasing following a period of inactivity. Harnessing soulful vocals, driving low-ends and skipping percussion, Clapped is a PAWSA secret weapon as heard at DC10 in the summer.

Anna Tur | Giorgina | Lowlita Records | 18 November

Inspired by the great changes that life trusts upon us and the intensity of the emotions that accompany them, Giorgina is the new track from Anna Tur on her own Lowlita Records. Congratulations to Anna on the birth of her baby daughter.

Late nights of an entirely different nature incoming.

The B-side, Lola, is named after the other girl in Anna's life - her pet dog. Aww.

Marina Trench | L'orage | Sweet State | 25 November

Something nectar sweet next, as French DJ and producer Marina Trench returns to her own Sweet State. Imperméable En Été contains three varied, choice cuts. L'orage is the highest tempo of the lot, but feels equally suitable for contemplative home listening.

BLOND:ISH, HUGEL & Nfasis | Tra Tra | FFRR | 4 November

Reggaeton's market growth was yet again a big talking point from the summer, although, overall Tech House maintained its dominance, but what if the two styles met? BLOND:ISH and HUGEL rework Nfasis' Tra Tra, creating a hybrid for modern dancefloors.

Best believe this one was doing the business all summer on Ibiza and further afield.

Krystal Klear | Essentia | Running Back | 11 November

On the balance of things, Krystal Klear features disproportionately on our charts. We just struggle to overlook him. Everything the Belfast man touches is pure gold. Essentia is yet another example. A peak-time favourite of Solomun's this summer. Synth heaven.

Valentín Huedo | Made For Jose | Buttress | 25 November

For one generation of Ibiza DJs to the next, Made For Jose is Valentín Huedo's tribute to late, great chill out master Jose Padilla. Here the producer pushes his creativity, exploring a wider sound palette. It comes as part of the Cross Vault 11 package on Musumeci's Buttress imprint.

Damiano von Erckert | Think Different | Aus Music | 25 November

Damiano von Erckert, and his various aliases, is one of Sven Väth's go-to producers. We were treated to lots of his music at Las Dalias in August and September. Now the Robert Johnson resident and Rinse FM radio host has put out new album, The Past The Future, on Aus Music.

Think Different references the past with unashamed euphoria. The full album is worth checking-out.

Becky Hill | Only You | Polydor Records | 10 November

Succumbing (a little) to the festive cheer, our final entry this month comes from Becky Hill. Originally released in 1982 by Yazoo, Only You gets a stripped-back, acoustic cover that feels perfect for those snug winter evenings.

Chances are you already recognise this. That fast food chain with the golden arches is using it as part of its Christmas advertising campaign.

If you haven't already, there's still a little bit of time to relive the closing party of Becky's Ibiza Rocks residency. You have until 19:00 tonight to order and watch.

Make sure you check-out our album of the month from Honey Dijon on Classic Music Co.
