Ultimate Ibiza weekender | Throwback beano

A clubbing itinerary.

Our ultimate Ibiza weekender series has tended to cater towards the younger end of the clubbing market, but we don't like to discriminate here. Sometimes the older crowd, despite their knowledge, are in need of a few pointers as well.

While it certainly attracts plenty of fresh blood too, it's fair to say that Clockwork Orange's core audience is made up of greying Ibiza veterans and clubber who have been around the block.

No shade. It's intergenerational appeal, as well as its feel-good vibes, is a big part of what makes it such a legendary weekend in the clubbing calendar.

Clockwork Orange has been on quite the journey.

From weekly debauchery at Es Paradis in the late '90s, to island hiatus when creator Danny Gould recovered from addiction, to its successful return as a reunion weekender - it's been a roller coaster ride. All this is recounted in Danny's tell-all autobiography, Gould Blimey! - a must-read for clubbers, if you've yet to have the pleasure.

Owing to last minute venue unavailability, as well as Clockworks' expanding popularity, a lot (but not all) of the official parties are sold out and have been for yonks.

In light of that, this guide seeks to offer alternative party options that will still appeal to the naranja army.

For our throwback beano edition, we're putting the period Friday 15 July to Monday 18 July under the spotlight.

Schedule:

Friday 15 July | 16:00 | Clockwork Orange at Amnesia, San Rafael
Saturday 16 July | 23:59 | The Masquerade at Pacha, Ibiza Town
Sunday 17 July | 17:00 | Tanit Beach Ibiza, Playa d'en Bossa
Sunday 17 July | 23:59 | Glitterbox at Hï Ibiza, Playa d'en Bossa
Monday 18 July | 18:00 | Sunset Ashram, Cala Conta
Monday 18 July | 23:59 | Night Fever w/ Felix Da Housecat at Lío, Ibiza Town

Day 1 | Clockwork Orange at Amnesia

Thankfully we start with the only official Clockwork Orange party that still has availability - it's Friday takeover of Amnesia. Clockwork only debuted at Amnesia in 2019, but it proved so popular on that occasion, that it more than warranted a return this year.

Unlike most parties at Amnesia, this is a bit special because it starts at 16:00 in the afternoon and rolls right the way through to 06:00 in the morning.

Early sets to look out for include Mr C at 18:00, Blocko and Peasy on straight after, followed by celebrity body confidence guru turned kitchen disco streaming sensation Gok Wan from 20:00. Danny Clockwork himself is on next, then headliner Mark Knight before old hands Seb Fontaine and Tall Paul go back-to-back.

Later in proceedings, you can catch Breakbeat heroes Stanton Warriors then Ibiza legends Jason Bye and Jonathan Ulysses shutting things down at 04:30. We can already hear ABBA being cued-up. Head here for last remaining tickets.

The Masquerade | Pacha Ibiza | by Raul Sanchez

Day 2 | The Masquerade at Pacha

Sadly, due to its limited capacity, the official Clockwork party at Cova Santa is completely sold out. So where will you head instead? If you want the similar carefree and fun-loving vibes then you can't go wrong with Pacha's Saturday night staple The Masquerade.

Your host Claptone invites you to his masked circus, where he'll be spinning his assortment of chart hits, remixes and current anthems. Aside from him, you'll also catch certifiable House music legend Kerri Chandler and Defected Records regular Ferreck Dawn.

Following the blueprint set the day before, this continues in a similar vein. Uplifting, vocal House music that you will likely know and can sing along to.

Tickets for The Masquerade can be picked up here.

Day 3 | Tanit Beach by day, Glitterbox at Hï Ibiza by night

Sunday is all about Playa d'en Bossa, so this is ultra handy if you happen to be staying nearby.

After two nights on the razz, it's time to chill at the beach. Although beds at Tanit Beach Ibiza have long since been swiped up, it's time to grab your towel and pitch up on the golden sands. Budgie smugglers optional, smiles compulsory.

You'll still be able to soak up the music and the energy just a few metres away.

Don't forget to dip into the sea and revitalise yourself - it's just what Tanit herself would recommend. After some dancing with the sand between your toes, where to head after dark? You're in Playa d'en Bossa, so you might as well stick around.

Okay, it's seem an obvious alternative - maybe too obvious? - but what better way to channel the nostalgia from yesteryear than a night at Glitterbox?

Hï Ibiza's Sunday night disco odyssey celebrates the roots of our scene through a fusion of retro tunes and modern House and Disco with added camp theatrics and acceptance of all.

This week's edition is suitably packed with some of the most respected DJs to walk the green Earth. Bob Sinclar, Catz N Dogz, Katie Goodman, Kiddy Smile, Natasha Diggs, DJ Pippi and The Shapeshifters are all in tow, promising amazing music from start to finish.

Keeping in line with Clockwork's shame-free nature, Glitterbox may be the obvious choice, but it's also a great choice. Grab tickets here.

Day 4 | Cala Conta followed by Night Fever at Lío

Still here and still up for a good time? Silly question.

Our weekender is sadly drawing to a close, but another day on the beach with the orange army beckons, this time at Cala Conta. Evening drinks and food at Sunset Ashram follows, but you know you're gonna get the taste and want to carry on. That's just what Clockwork does to you.

There's enough time left to put on your glad rags and cut some shapes to some incredible music.

We've got something that will surely tickle that House and Disco itch. It's probably going to be a little less "full on" then the earlier parties in this weekend, which is probably a good thing as you start to wind down the gears.

Night Fever is the party from Chicago mainstay Felix Da Housecat, taking place every Monday in peak season at Lío Ibiza. Everything from Jackin' House to old school Disco will be on the cards at this most glam of parties. One last hurrah. Would be rude not to.

Recovery time ain't what it used to be, but after four fun-filled days and nights on Ibiza, you'll have earned a snooze on the flight home. Happy huggin' people. We look forward to a sweaty embrace on the Clockwork dancefloor this weekend.

Now that's what we call an ultimate Ibiza weekender. Keep your eyes out for more instalments coming soon.
