elrow kicks things off at Ushuaïa

The spectacular return to the open-air super-club.

Possibly the most famous fiesta in the world finally made its return to the ultimate party haven Ushuaïa for a crazed opening party. Having made its debut at the venue in 2018, elrow is back to take over the day club for four selected dates this summer and we couldn't be more excited.

Branching out from its weekly nighttime home at Amnesia, the party brand has shown its versatility and consistency when supplying unique and immersive party experiences to elrow clubbers on the island.

Therefore, dressed in my loudest and brightest attire, I hastily made my way to Ushuaïa to catch the collab of the century. Here's what went down.

Seeing two huge fruits of the party industry join forces always promised to be specia. However, I certainly didn't anticipate the extent of this party's extravagance. Production had been taken to the extreme and the entirety of Ushuaïa's dance space was transformed.

The theme for the opening bash was Enchanted Forest, meaning that the stage and surrounding areas we totally consumed by magical, over-the-top decor.

Positioned around the dance floor and pool were mammoth inflatables and trippy installations, each adding to the atmosphere of the party. The stage was also covered in elrow-esque, rainbow decorations and it was clear that last detail was perfected to make this experience like no other.

Along with the wild trimmings, came even wilder performers. Interacting with the audience were dancers on stilts and actors in questionable costumes.

My confusion and amazement peaked when to my left, was a woman dressed as a nutty grandma and to my right a giant over-head inflatable dragon. Does it make sense? No. Do we love it? Yes.

Musically, the night was just as awesome and throwing down some heavy beats was a line-up of sought-after techno DJs to see us through to night. I arrived just as the British elrow veteran Eats Everything took control of the decks.

The DJ and producer showed he is no stranger to the game and provided an appealing mix of melodic techno, industrial techno and tech-house genres. Check out his track Space Raiders to get a feel of the night's vibe.

Till 20:00, Eats Everything mastered the art of selection and despite all the other stuff going on, I never once felt disconnected from the music. Another of his played whoppers was Timeless (Mees Salomé Remix) By Fat Sushi.

Next up was the Spanish techno legend and elrow original Marc Maya. From the start of Row 14 in Barcelona to the world-wide phenomenon that is today called elrow, Maya has been a pivotal part of the party's evolution. Judging last nights set, I understand why.

His expertise in all things elrow means that his music was perfect for the setting. Opening his set with The Future As A Community by David Aurel, the DJ and producer made his presence known. Check it out.

Closing with Party Non Stop (Vocal) by Pirupa, Maya stepped aside in time for island veteran and final DJ of the evening, Paco Osuna. The Music On resident proved his right to be there with a tune we all got down to. Switch by Jansons featuring Dope Alien Earth is the name of the head-bopping track.

As the day drew to a close, I realised the only fault in elrow's day party addition is that it didn't last longer. However, lucky for ravers on the island, the party is back for another three selected dates at Ushuaïa's open-air space as well as at Amnesia every Saturday night.
