Free Cocoon encore party at Destino this Saturday

As a thank you for the season, Cocoon throws one final free daytime party this weekend.

Just when you thought it was all over, Cocoon has announced a party at Destino on Saturday 13 October. As a thank you to our island and for all Cocoon's fan's loyalty, this party will be free to all.

Previously this summer, Cocoon Daytime has brought the likes of Sven Väth, DJ Koze, Adriatique and Traumer to the gorgeous outdoor venue at Cap Martinet.

Although Sven won't be in attendance himself this time, he has rounded up a stellar cast of Cocoon favourites. Together, they are more than capable of laying on the full blown Cocoon experience.

Let's take a look at all of the acts performing now, and dig into Cocoon Records archive to recall some of their contributions to one of the world's greatest techno imprints.

sebastian mullaert

Cocoon has been one of the few big parties that continues to champion live acts - not least at its Destino soirees. Already we have been treated to daytime sets from Tim Green and Âme's Frank Wiedemann at the exclusive hilltop retreat.

Cocoon follows on in this fashion, by inviting Sebastian Mullaert of Minilogue fame to this Saturday's event. By his own standards, Mullaert has graced Ibiza more than usual this year with a single appearance each at Afterlife and IDOL earlier in the summer.

However, the chance to catch the ambient master in an outdoor setting as beautiful as Destino is definitely an opportunity not to be missed. Especially when you consider this is a traditionally quiet part of the year.

andré galluzzi

André Galluzzi has been a true unsung hero of Cocoon's 2018 campaign. Even going back as far as the first weekend in May, he warmed the Pacha crowd with deft finesse for Sven's Heartbeat of the Island appearance.

Mainly, however, he has been charged with overseeing proceedings in Room 2 on Wednesday nights. The second room has been an intimate hole-away for locals and those with more discerning tastes.

As recently as the closing party, he, Dana Ruh and Cesar Vinzent had the vibrant crowd eating out of the palm of their hand.

Galluzzi also formed part of Destino's epic opening party, so he knows exactly what the venue and its crowd is all about. We're in a safe pair of hands.

markus fix

Hailing from techno-stronghold Frankfurt, it's little wonder that Markus Fix caught the attention of Sven. Firmly a regular Cocoon fixture for many years now, much like Galluzzi, Markus is part of the stable's bread and butter.

His noticeable dub-techno sound is a recognisable trademark, setting him apart from his peers. With Ibiza appearances pretty limited, Saturday makes a great opportunity to catch this thoroughbred talent away from his usual habitat.

Cesar Vinzent is an act to keep your eye on. In 2018, the Spanish DJ has been quietly going about his business and is on the cusp on elevating himself to the next tier. Besides Cocoon, he has played for several other underground promoters across the island this summer.

His style is befitting the kind of environment where things are stripped-back, production limited and ceilings low, combined with a killer sound system. This might explain while he has gone down a storm in both Cocoon's Room 2 and Sankeys' basement.

Likely to be opening on the day, the minimal star is at the forefront of the next wave of Ibiza-based DJs breaking through. Cocoon's trust in his ability is the biggest indication of his potential yet.

Because this really is the last card that Cocoon and Destino have to show this summer, and neither we nor they want the party to stop, the action will continue indoors at Tox Club from midnight until…

Nobody does a marathon stint like team Cocoon - as the closing and afters double-header proved. Here's one last opportunity to dance with Ibiza's original techno clan, before the sun sets on its eventful 19th season.

Stayed tuned to the magazine over the colder months for the latest news on Cocoon's much-anticipated 20-year anniversary landing summer 2019. Before then, we'll catch you at Destino this Saturday for one last dance.
