Get on down for the free 2018 Ibiza Bloop art festival

It’s your last chance to see the art at the Bloop HQ, ending this weekend. Art does carry on outside if you miss it...

With the Bloop urban art festival coming towards the end of its run, here's a reminder to go and see it with a quick low-down.

There is still time to go and see this year's art until 8 September. The HQ gallery is there from today till this Sunday 2 September. Of course, the "Open Air Gallery" never closes.

The festival highlights issues that affect both society at large and the island with this year's theme being that of hope. As the festival's slogan says “art is for everybody” and all events are free.

Also this Sunday, there's the official closing party in the evening at the end of the harbour in Plaza sa Torreta. An arty party that's being broadcasted live on Pure Ibiza Radio.

Bloop HQ

"The temple" by artist Lo Spino

This year's Bloop HQ is sited over two floors in an old hospital at the end of the Ibiza Town harbour promenade. Here you will see an ensemble of artists from various disciplines. This exhibition has seven mesmerising installations, using technology and featuring some super cool artists like Lo Spino, K24, Amadama and Daniel Kurnizak. Light and sound installations that put immersive art at its very best. Hurry down to catch it before it ends this Sunday.

SEAFRONT PROMENADE EXPOSITION

Art outside and in

Here you will find illustrations and images on display for the entire duration of the festival by artists Kawa “Waves of Japan” and 3D expert K24. Biokip, the event organiser, creates a true mix adding music to the visuals and making it a fundamental element of the art displays. Listen out for the live soundscape created by artist Tranz Lasagne.

THE OPEN-AIR GALLERY

Ibiza Town urban art from last year's event entitled "changes"

A lasting legacy of the Bloop event is what it calls the Open Air Gallery. If you are wondering what that is, then take a look at this map and click on the locations to see pictures of gigantic murals that grace the walls of some of Ibiza's buildings.

This majestic, meaningful and incredible collection of outdoor paintings are added to each year by different international urban artists. It is a key long-term project of the festival: to positively affect the local built environment to make it a more pleasant place to live in and to lift spirits

BLOOP KIDS

Tomorrow 1 September is a special avant-garde kids' workshop, where here the "hope" is of teaching little ones about the beauty of creativity expressed through art; helping them to find their own personal expression. Whether your child is a budding artist or not, gaining perspective through art will enrich all.

Drop on by while you still can and catch some of the best urban art around for free with the Bloop festival!

Ibiza Town's harbour is easily found at the junction of Avenidas Bartomeu and Santa Eulalia. Look for the statue of the sailor and follow the promenade down with the water on your left and the old town on your right.
