Relax, recharge, repeat at Meliá Ibiza

Meliá Ibiza in Santa Eulalia is a haven for relaxation and it starts as soon as you step into the hotel.

Meliá Ibiza is a haven for unwinding and de-stressing and it starts when you gaze out at the azure-blue Mediterranean, instantly visible when you step into the hotel's bright reception area.

Sometimes, all you want to do is enjoy the peace that Ibiza brings and recharge those batteries. Fortunately, relaxation starts here and my partner and I were lucky enough to go and try it out before a busy summer season of work would begin.

Fully facing the sea, the hotel is designed in such a way that every area offers that deeply soothing view, with all the rooms facing it too. That's just the location: this hotel will have you feeling like a new woman or man in moments as it did for us.

If you love to lounge around and be pampered, you are in the right place. Flavoured waters with descriptions of health benefits greet at reception. Then you can take your pick on where to sit back and unwind.

Letting go is easy to do

Beds that dreams are made of - in our room

All around, common spaces, chill-out areas and chilled corners with oversized pillows invite you to luxuriate. Two pools whisper “slow down” as do the hammocks with pillows where two can snuggle together, rocking gently by the sea.

Books are strewn about the hotel, with a "take one - leave one" tag so no need to bring a holiday read: that's there for you.

If you are having trouble letting go, just take a look at the motivational phrases, beautiful images and messages hanging on the walls. In rooms, a stylish colour palette by Desigual Living adds to the relaxation as do the Dream Maker beds and pillow menu.

Everything about this place revolves around your utmost relaxation. As the note we found waiting for us the bedroom reminded us, "The body is your temple. Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in."

It's just the sun rising

A yoga start to the day in the grounds of Meliá Ibiza

Being on the east of the island it's the perfect place to watch a sunrise: the first rays of the day energised us before we were even out of bed. Then, when you feel like it, it's time to get up and head down for some exercise.

Before or after, make sure to refuel at breakfast, an extensive buffet, suiting every dietary preference. And of course, you eat overlooking the sea - a multi-sensory treat.

We started the day with a yoga class outside with the sea breeze gently wafting over our bodies. It took place in a cube with sheer white curtains instead of walls, not to mention a tree that embraced it for that extra bit of connection to nature.

As far as a feeling of peace goes, nothing beats the sound of the sea kissing the shore. You can hear it clearly as you strengthen and stretch those muscles.

The yoga instructor walked us through rediscovering the balance between body and spirit. Let me tell you, it doesn't get much better than this.

It ain't over yet

For that wind-in-your-hair feeling, bicycles are also available for guests to use, with flowers in the bike baskets.

If you really do have to work a bit, you will also find plenty of corners for that. Getting it done will never be more pleasurable. A 24-hour gym means you choose (or not) your workout schedule.

Well-being packages include a private yoga class - even a mini-retreat package of five classes is available. Detox, balance and relaxing massages and reflexology sessions will help purify the soul, too.

Meliá Ibiza makes it easy and almost obligatory to stop, take deep breaths, relax and recharge. When it's time to leave, you will be already booking your break for next year.
