Best moments from Circoloco, Monday 1 August

Four standout scenes from DC-10's most infamous party

Circoloco at DC-10 is a party that never, ever fails to impress. Eschewing the VIP focus in favour of simple, large dancefloors, there's only one reason people go to DC-10, and that is to dance. This season, Circoloco has been spurting out only the best line-ups - its booth has seen the likes of Mattias Tanzmann, Disclosure, Heidi, Marco Carola and The Black Madonna, and on Monday the venue was drowning in credible DJs, with the likes of Shonky, Ben UFO, Kerri Chandler and Black Coffee all on the bill. Here's a rundown of my highlights from the night.

Bicep get trancey

Bicep have long been included in my top 10 list of favourite DJs, and basking in the glow of the sunset at DC-10 is made even better when one half of the duo are playing a special mix with a ton of trance-infused records that have been pitched down to create that Bicep-esque house feel. Hearing something completely suprising yet genius from a DJ is always a pleasure, and tracks from this set included their own mix of 'Higher Level' by Isaac Tichauer and Blaze's 'Lovely Dae'. Lovely.

Magnetism between Heidi and The Black Madonna

Ever since my housemates hammered it into my ears about how incredible The Black Madonna is, it's been high on my priorities to see her in person. So I made sure I was keenly stood at the front as she came on for her B2B set with Heidi - a great decision made by myself, which doesn't come around all too often. The pair may as well have been twins born from the same womb whilst mixing together - they seamlessly upheld a contagious energy and lead the fist pumping routine in the whole of the main room. Disco was played and not a single person in that room was without a grin. Let's not even get started on how much of an incredible dancer The Black Madonna is!

Discovering my love for Tiga

Embarrassingly, before last night I sometimes got Tiga and the rapper Tyga mixed up - poor mistake to make as a music journalist, I know, but I'd never come across Tiga before catching the end of his set last night in the main room, and I'm positive the size of my eyes tripled in size with what I witnessed. Every party has a standout track and for me last night, it came from Tiga, who gifted us 'Dubby Disco' by Antonelli Electr. Last night was the first time Tiga had ever played Circoloco and he certianly got everyone talking - being my nosey-writer self I couldn't help but catch snippets of conversations from people hyping over his set. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for him on Ibiza again.

Earning my Circoloco stripes

This trip to Circoloco was my fifth of the season, and I feel like I'm finally beginning to get to know this party in all its wondrous glory. My first ever DC-10 experience was at the opening back in May, and after 13 hours straight of dancing I left with bruises all over my legs. On Monday night I felt like I was making progress in conquering this party - I know my way around now and I got chatting to the regulars and workers there, and while I still danced pretty hard, my legs came away unscathed, which is progress of sorts. There's nothing better than knowing a party inside out, and that's what tends to happen in Ibiza - clubs out here start becoming like your second home, and DC-10 isn't a bad second casa to call yours.
