Moon Harbour head honchos, Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas, have gifted us with a 12-track compilation from heaven in the form of Vol.7, featuring members of the family old and new. Moon Harbour is still going strong after 16 years, with every compilation being completely unique and bringing more inventive tech house to the table. Vol.7 features label artists such as music enthusiasts Ninetoes, Sven Tasnadi and Sidney Charles.
Emanuel Satie gets things started with his teasing track ‘Now You Know', which is made, surely, purely to vibrate the floor of DC-10's terrace - its indescribable bassline complemented by slight vocals and an all round percussive beat. Riva Starr's raw edit of Paul C & Paolo Martini's 'Rotation' closely follows and is the epitome of a warehouse anthem with a dark euphoric atmosphere. Sable Sheep comes forward with his mechanical ‘Chaos' before fittingly, ‘Call The Police' by Luna City Express fills in the piano gaping hole in perfectly mastered complication. Anja Schneider, or as she was once labeled ‘a perpetual motion machine' - reaches new levels of exultation with her track ‘Caracas', confirming her label. Mathias Kaden, known for being adventurous with his elements and owning a turn table at 14, peppers Vol.7 with his slightly trance-charged track, ‘Settle Down'.
No Moon Harbour project is complete without Hamburg's Sidney Charles showing face, and that's exactly what he does here with the eerie, ‘House Is All I Need' - in which soulful vocals are sampled that showcase his unique approach to producing. Dan Drastic brings a psychedelic twist, bongos and maracas shake things up with ‘Room Full Of Heroes' before the influential Sven Tasnadi shows his minimal side with ‘Real Box'. Moon Harbour introduces two newbies to the table, Zohki cow bells his way in with the exotically soaked, ‘Crumble', and Ninetoes - new to the Moon Harbour game but not to the electronic world since he burst onto the scene 2013 with widely known track, ‘Finder' - is on the list with the synthy, ‘Desda'. This groundbreaking compilation saves the best until last, with Sabb's ‘People Of The Sun' showing no mercy and heading straight into unstoppable grooves to round things off.
Moon Harbour's Inhouse Vol.7 is an album worth keeping in your car for as long as you're driving. From start to finish it tells a story of distinctive tech house, with slivers of trance and remarkable minimal techno vibes. Prepare to be aurally attacked and enjoy every minute of it.
