Ibiza 2016 season news roundup TWO

We continue the mad roll into the looming season with more bites of info that you must know.

Our steel-footed tonic toes are strolling through February and we're all trying to catch a glimpse of that annual stampede into the dance-dome. It's hard going, especially for those diseased with impatience but when the topic is Ibiza, it's a disease that strikes us all down. The only remedy is news and if you're smart, you'll use it to fuel your imaginations and greater fantasies of what you want to see happen.

2016 season info regarding residencies, openings and line-ups hasn't stopped dropping on us from vein bursting heights. Every announcement nugget that inches past us is important to sorting your summer lives out because there's going to be one that hones in to highlight a week (or two) as vital to your wellbeing. That information might be here, sliced in like a neon giraffe waving the keys toward an Easyjet aircraft; only your reading speed will tell.

Bash on through to the announcement kaleidoscope to see if your beast has its neck out at Sankeys, Ushuaïa, Zoo Project, Together or with Maceo Plex at Pacha.

1. Sankeys Seven Wonders.

The full week is permanent marker penned-in at Sankeys. Monday to Sunday is done and it's looking a healthy shade of YES. With its aim to quench everyone's tastes, our ears are in the hands of eight different and diverse promoters of Balearic favourites and new kids. Shelter Presents The Redlight kicks off the week early doors in the season from 23rd May with U.S house, UK garage and underground electronica all coming under one roof. Tuesdays get going from the 21st June with one of the fore mentioned new guns, in the form of hip hop and R&B party Applebum. On Wednesdays, it's another newbie with Dance 88/89 but as the years tell you, it's far from new skool as from 25th May, you'll be lured to the beginning years of acid house and Balearic beats with legendary residents DJ Alfredo and Bushwacka!. Sankeys' hunt for freshness continues with Unusual Suspects being not so unsually confirmed as a residency beginning 12th May considering how successful its first winter season on the island has been with its house and techno parties. Fridays will chaperone in some London spirit with the city's biggest Sunday rave ABODE taking its weekly position from the 24th June; on account of every event selling out with bold bookings from Cassy to Matthew Dear, expect big, beautiful things. Tribal Sessions is back in a new weekly spot on Saturdays and techno from residents Miguel Campbell, Manu Gonzalez, Jozef K and Adam Chappell arrives very early on in the season – 7th May to be exact. Bringing the spin into full working order, is the legendary VIVa Warriors which will return on Sundays, with head honcho Steve Lawler at its tech house helm, from 15th June.

Tickets are available now for all parties, with extra special and limited 10€ earlybird prices on offer.

2. Zoo Project opening for its 10th year in the animal kingdom.

The Zoo Project has been making its roar heard across the island for a decade and you've been more than willing to flash a canine at anyone daring to show their animalistic tendencies. The spirit animals pacing back and forth inside your human bodies will be coaxed out from 4th June to 24th September. 2016 is its 10th birthday year and as a milestone, people always crack out the spades to dig a little deeper and find something bigger for the treasure stack. Animal soul, fancy-dress, stunning stage productions and quality underground music will all return. Line-ups are still to be announced, If you know you won't be missing out on this regardless of who's playing, early bird tickets are now available for €30.

3. Maceo Plex in Mosaic residency at Pacha.

Maceo Plex is spinning his hold on a venue that until this season, has never received the Plex treatment. Tuesdays from 24th May to 4th October will be witness to his much anticipated residency, Mosaic by Maceo. All heads turned with the announcement of his first artist-led residency on the island. He might have never played here, but from what he's seen as a clubber, he liked and saw promise in it being able to offset whatever sensory vision he currently has locked up. No line-ups as of yet, although he's made it clear that he's determined to go against the grain by drafting in, alongside typical Ibiza DJs, the dexterity of talents that you may need an introduction to. It will be very interesting to see what news is slowly filtered from his camp and how he plans to shake up the island. Stay tuned.

4. Ushuaïa Hotel opens its doors to daytime spells of debauchery.

Kicking off early doors while the sun is still beaming down with scorching temperatures is possible thanks to Ushuaïa Hotel. The Playa d'en Bossa haven for day-time parties 7 days a week reopens on Saturday 28th May. The line-up announcement is brewing, and while it retains an air of mystery, going on the opening and closing parties of seasons past, it's going to be finely tuned into more techno and tech-house flavourings. It's one of the biggest Ibiza parties and tickets will be available very soon with us.

5. Together residents announced.

Blessing the bass, garage and house sounds that fall within Together's ranks are four residents prepared to giving you a booting in the pleasure spot. In Amnesia's main room, Chase & Status will be making their allegiance with Together known, as they also return for their 6th consecutive year as residents. Kicking off from the opening on 7th June, they'll be playing a total of ten DJ sets throughout the summer season. Joining Chase & Status in the main room is Rudimental who will also be returning on a DJ set mission with six gigs. Out on the terrace, we've got Gorgon City on patrol for eight dates and Hannah Wants is control for six. Both Gorgon City and the golden girl of dance will be giving you a blast at Together's nocturnal opening on 7th June.
