Top Releases: December 2015

The finest sounds released at the end of 2015.

Enzo Siragusa 'Desire' / FUSE / 14th December

Enzo Siragusa's London based FUSE is one of the city's most respected underground labels, over the years also becoming a firm favourite on the island we call home. If you attended any of the Fuse showcases at Space Ibiza last summer you will have no doubt heard Desire causing carnage on the Terrace. Desire has that trademark Fuse warmth; it builds and rolls through nicely until the bass linekicks in, taking the track to a whole new level.

Enzo has made us wait months for this so don't waste any more time adding the vinyl to your collection. If you're heading to FUSE London on NYD you will no doubt hear this cause quite a stir on the dancefloor. It's a belter.

Tiga 'Don't Break My Heart' (Deetron remix) / Counter Records / 18th December

Tiga has had a stellar 2015. He debuted his brand new live show at Sonar, recently remixed Disclosure and built up to hisnew album (to be released in 2016) by releasing Don't Break My Heart on Ninja Tune's offshoot Counter Records in November. Now the release has been repackaged and comes with a quality remix from Deetron

The Swiss wizard keeps Tiga's passionate vocals in place and the result sounds like something TEED produced back on hismarvellous 'Trouble' album in 2012. It's trippy, progressive and it's guaranteed to make any dance floor lose its shit.

Acid Mondays 'Tacos Per Minute EP' / Rumors / 11th December

Over the years the Acid Monday duo has releasedon respected labels like Circus, 2020Vision and Warp. Now, Negghead and Lex Wolf (better known to friends as Dan and Alex) can add Guy Gerber's RUMORS to the list.

The three-track EP titled 'Tacos Per Minute' shows why the duo has been booked at the likes of Circoloco in Ibiza andrecently played at Fabric London alongside Seth Troxler and Craig Richards. From the three tracks, A-side Tacos Per Minute is the pick of the bunch. Distorted vocals, futuristic synths and apulsing sub-bass make this one of the best tracks the Acid Mondays have put together so far.

Nina Kraviz 'Let's Do It' / Trip / 4th December

To me Nina Kraviz is one of those artists whohas been trying to find where she fits in the electronic music scene for sometime. Her productions are often given less attention than her looks or hercomments in the press, and her mixing skills are often overshadowed because she is booked alongside DJs who don't compliment her sound.

Now with her label Trip it seems like Kraviz is finding her way. Let's Do It is the kind of track Nina was producing early in her career; it has that trippy and atmospheric feel toit as well as a menacing kick that will make you jack those hips from start tofinish. Desire will always be myfavourite Nina track, but this has the potential to one day top it.

Gardens of God 'Montana' / Ellum / 4th December

Maceo Plex continues to do no wrong. As a DJ hehas retained his place in the top three of the Resident Advisor Top 100 poll and his label Ellum grows more popular with every release. The label's finalrelease of 2015 comes from Lithuanian producer Mindaugas Lapinskis, better known as Gardens of God, an act who is a regular on the Ellum showcases aroundthe world.

Montana is a track full of the elements Plex himself loves. It has an analogue feel to it and sounds just as good in a small basement as it does in a larger warehouse space.

Dele Soseme Afrobeat Orchestra 'Too Much Information' (Laola remix) / Innervisions / 11th December

Laola's parents met in a record store in Berlin, an early musical education leading him to swap his saxophone for a drum machine after hearing pioneers Derrick May and Carl Craig. His remix of Too Much Information is the number one selling 'Deep House' record on Beatport right now and was the highlight of the Innervisions showcase at Fabric London in November.

Many have tried to copy the 'Innervisions' sound, but this label's so success is because of its ability to find music that sounds like nothing else on the planet. Dixon and Ame's label has been responsible for some of house and techno's most successful tracks in recent years and now they can add another one to the list.

The Chemical Brothers ft Beck 'Wide Open' (Kölsch remix) / EMI / 11th December

The Chemical Brothers come-back has been one of the highlights of 2015, their latest work 'Born In The Echoes' the band's 6th consecutive number one album. One of our favourite tracks from the album is Wide Open featuring the legendary Beck on vocals. Kölsch has taken the American's dreamy vocals and turned it into a lush and cinematic soundscape with a rather infectious drop.

Considering the talent on show in this, it's no wonder this is one of our favourites from the month of December. If you haven't got the Bro's album in your collection yet, get it on your Christmas list.

Circuit Breaker 'Systematic' / Minus 8 / 11th December

Whatever your opinion on Richie Hawtin you can't deny the passion he has for electronic music. When he produces, people listen. In recent years, however, his production has been rare, and when he does release something people are quick to judge.

Well, now it's time to give Richie a pat on the back. This week he has dropped an album on Minus 8 that nobody saw coming. 'From My Mind To Yours' is made up of 15 records with tracks from all of Hawtin's alter egos, including 5 from his most famous alias 'Plastikman'. The stand out for us so far is Systematic, a dark, acidic techno number that demands your respect from the off. Simply put, it's Hawtin's best work for some time.

Ripperton 'Ordine Gitante' / Maeve / December 4th

Maeve is the record label run by three close friends, Mano Le Tough, The Drifter and Baikal. After his excellent remix of Baikal's "Why Don't Ya", Maeve welcomes back Ripperton with his own "This, What Remains" release.

Ordine Gitante is a beautifully crafted record. It's 13 minutes long, hypnotic, atmospheric and dark in all the right places. It's one of those records you can see Sven playing in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Amnesia's legendary terrace. Sunglasses on, toilet roll as a headband with smiles on faces. Bliss.

Four Tet & Floating Points feat. Katy B 'Calm Down' / Virgin EMI / 10th December

Calm Down is the first taste of Katy B's new collaborative project 'Honey', due in the new year. Underground heroes Four Tet and Floating Points provide the bouncing bass line and clipped edits under Miss B's sassy vocals, the collaboration the latest evidence of Four Tet's casual tumble into the mainstream spotlight, artistic integrity fully intact.
