Floating Points ‘Perotation Six’ / Pluto / 6th November
Floating Points, Sam Shepherd’s moniker, delights us this month with his new album Elaenia; a trippy trip along a trail of daily mixed emotion. Climax reaching happiness being one of those in Peroration Six, the last of seven tracks that takes us back to those troubled and disorderly days which can only be fixed by some humming, guitars and hellish drums. A five minute crescendo composition full of suffering which marks the abrupt end of Shepherd’s master piece.
Disclosure ft Lorde ‘Magnets’ (VIP Remix) / PMR Records / 12th November
Although we are expecting Loco Dice, Jon Hopkins and A-Trak’s remixes of this magnetic tune, included in Disclosure’s Caracal new (and much commended) album, the brilliant UK duo have decided to add an ebullient and lively touch to Lorde’s vocals. The track, which had already been a motif hit, returns to our ears as an upbeat remake, all ready to be the dancefloor queen during these winter months...uh-oh, dancin' past the point of no return.
Kiasmos ‘Swept’ (Tale Of Us Remix) / Erased Tapes / 11th November
Tale Of Us fans are in luck. The duo have not only launched a new EP this month but they've transformed the genuine, wild and kind of minimal music piece that gives name to Kiasmos’ new work, Swept, into a darker and deeper techno tune. Changing the instrumental piano for pulsating hats and immersing the listeners into a hypnotic state of mind which comes from quiet peace to an epic breakdown. No vocals needed.
Dj QU ‘Final Call’ / Social Experiment / 11th November
Jonny White, one half of Art Department who continues under the name, is bringing to life Social Experiment, his new label, which has just released Dj QU’s new EP. Final Call seems to be the magnificent single; a solid techno record with a hard bass line which fits perfectly with the subterranean club culture that the label is promising to represent.
Uner ‘The Return of The Sun’ / Solar Distance / 16th November
Another one who is dropping innovative sounds into our scene is Ants resident, Uner, with his new label Solar Distance. The Spanish producer comes back to his hypnotic roots with this creation taken from the four-track EP, which is the the very first to drop from the imprint. The melodic and synth elements play the main role, offering a nine-minute walk through his characterised tech-house sound but with a clear cosmic blow.
Chevalier ‘Double Dealin’ / Defected Records / 9th November
Brazilians Antonio Eudi and Warung are the names behind Chevalier, a formation who we can assure comes up on top. Proof of this comes in the form of this brilliant EP which brings us jewels like Double Dealin, an ear-grabbing tune made for the dance-floor with looped vocals and rolling bass lines getting you trapped into the tech beats and groovy synths.
Mendoza ‘Love Druggie’ (Hannah Wants Remix) / Mendoza / Atlantic Records / Release day November 13th
Ok, Jeremy Olander comes first for me, but the golden palm is for Hannah Wants, who, after a year of incredible non-stop success on the island, is refusing to stop us from liking her. The Brit has stamped her swaggy signature into Mendoza’s track, intensifying the spiritual vocals, honing the grooves and rolling the bass. Do it, do it. What a tune!
Auntie Flo ‘So In Love (Feat. Shingai and Richard Thair)’ / Huntleys + Palmers and Kompakt / 6th November
The Theory of Flo is Auntie Flo’s new album which includes, among others, treasures like So In Love, where the beautiful Shingai’s voice mixes with the skills Richard Thair has on percussion to bring to our ears this production; African sounds in this house reference which contains the perfect amount of trance ingredients to be a hit.
Riva Starr ‘Velvet Zone’ / Snatch! Records / 16th November
The Napoli house capo, Riva Starr, has done it again. Another igniting dancefloor tune to add to his long list which now includes his new EP I Believe In You. Velvet Zone is one of those tracks which will keep you throwing shapes from the very beginning. Its catchy looped-up vocals, solid house bass line and groovy beats make it a hit ‘you give the love’ for.
Slam ‘Serpent’ / Soma Records / November 9th
Serpent is one of those dark techno pieces which grows on you from the first beats. The bass line, which is totally the essence of the track, looms in the background while the tense vibes appear slowly to create the deepest of deep ambience. A totally new killer tune by the Soma Records’ heads which proves why they are in the forefront of techno productions and have been for so long.
