Review: Walking Ibiza's around the island walk

These boots are definitely made for walking...

I met Toby of Walking Ibiza two years ago, and have done a good many one-day walks with him in the winter months since. As Spotlight's clubbing guy, I know the clubs in Ibiza like the back of my hand, but on the downside I don't get to see a lot of our wonderful island during the summer months, simply because we're all too busy with work (and a bit of play, I'll admit). So when a little over a year ago I first heard about a walk along the full coastline of Ibiza, I was mesmerised by the idea. When I realised it happens after all the club closings, I knew I had to do it, so I signed up for this year's around the island hike.

The eleven-day walk around the Ibicenco coastline was an amazing experience - one of the best things I've ever done. Even though I did know lots of those paths already, it was wonderful to see the complete coast of our beautiful island - and with no other means of transportation than our own feet. During this trip I was again reminded and stunned at Ibiza's beauty. All those well-known beaches we traipsed along (and some very secret ones we came across), the viewpoints we hiked up to, the few towns and villages we've passed through…. never before have I felt so close to Ibiza. My full day-by-day review can be read in our forum, so if you're curious to know more, check it out here.

If you're considering doing this wonderful experience yourself next year, then I'd recommend getting in touch with Toby soon, as the 10 spots are normally booked pretty quickly. Can anyone do this walk? I'd say that if you have a normal fitness and are used to walking a few hours every now and then, you'll be able to do it. You'll definitely be tired afterwards, but any passing blisters, aching muscles or pain will be far outweighed by the many, many great memories that will be with you for life.

Full photo album coming soon!
