Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of decades, you'll no doubt have heard the name Dubfire. The Iranian American DJ and producer, real name Ali Shirazinia, has over the past twenty years made an indelible mark on the dance music industry, and with the recent announcement of his revolutionary new live tour, he's showing no sign of slowing down.
He began his career as part of Grammy award-winning duo Deep Dish, whose few shows since splitting in 2006 have included Space's Opening Fiesta back in May, and their fast approaching Closing Party on October 5th. Meanwhile, after adopting the solo alias Dubfire, Shirazinia has gone from strength to strength, becoming known for his seamless techno sets, innovative music - like his 2008 remix of Radio Slave and Danton Eeprom’s Grindhouse - and for releasing a string of ground breaking tracks on his label, Science + Technology Digital Audio, known as SCI + TEC.
Premièring on 16th October at this years Amsterdam Dance Event, his revolutionary new live show, dubfire:liveHYBRID, will see the DJ unveil his most ambitious achievement to date. Just like his label's namesake, the show will be exploring the intersection of science and technology, combining 2D and 3D animation with live audio and lighting. The show will take place at the Roest Warehouse, and will feature an eclectic mix of artists including dub reggae and new wave producer Adrian Sherwood, SCI + TEC’s Carlo Lio, Italian dub techno duo Dadub, Modular Pursuits, as well as a very special guest.
Ali Shirazinia has said that the show is something he's always envisioned doing, and that after years of hard work he now feels able to pull off. With a large body of work he's proud to put his name to, and a strong team behind him, we're excited to see what the DJing stalwart has up his sleeve - and if his previous ventures are anything to go by, we've got no doubts that this will definitely be one to watch.
