Review: F*** Me I'm Famous at Pacha, 26th June

Ibiza, prepare for energy-fulled electro and power-charged percussion at David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous residency at Pacha.

Our favourite Frenchman has brought a naughty slice of smut to Ibiza that would even make the Moulin Rouge blush! For over a decade, David Guetta has been throwing his glamorous 'F*** Me I'm Famous' parties throughout the world. Bringing it to Pacha every Thursday means three things for the White Isle: mischief, magnificent line-ups and mayhem (that's right, guaranteed roadblocks!).

This is the second time I've been to Pacha this week (they are going to think I don't have a home to go to) but it's completely unrecognisable. As you walk in to the venue, there's the erotic Fuck Me I'm Famous label covering the walls, leaving you in no doubt that Monsieur Guetta's night has officially landed on the island. With all the rooms open, the club was a buzzing beehive of ravers. The Main Room was full to the brim by 2am. People spilled out in to the Open Terrace where large screens adorned the walls, broadcasting special guest Daddy's Groove in the booth so no one missed a trick there. Tres Bien!

We found ourselves on the balcony which overlooks the dance floor and the DJ. The booth had been pushed back to its usual spot, along the right wall, which meant clubbers were packed in like a concert. In the Main Room, saucy mannequins in skimpy undies hung from the ceiling, glass boxes on podiums detained gyrating shirtless men and women in corsets and suspenders. Black and white canapés hung from the ceiling and a large diamond-shaped swing carrying a nipple-tassled dancer swayed to and fro in the centre of the room. Ooh la la!

Party-goers were a sea of blue and fuchsia as Daddy's Groove pumped out a series of high voltage tracks. Antidote by Swedish House Mafia vs Knife Party sent ripples of excitement through the discotheque, while Avicci's Hey Brother guaranteed a karaoke moment with the ravers singing along in unison. The French superstar hit the decks at 3am and, although the transition was smooth, the switch was apparent as David Guetta's tunes hold deeper tones than the highly sprung set from Daddy's Groove.

“Are you ready for Fuck Me I'm Famous? Let's go!” he commanded the revellers, opening with his 2014 smash Shot Me Down. At first I thought this was an unusual intro choice because of the leisurely opening and delicate pulse but this was only an indication of things to come. His set was a yo yo of filthy beats, he'd entice us in with a tender tempo before spitting out a shocking blow, up and down, dipping and diving. Of course Guetta wasn't going to ease us in gently, silly me. He was in full control of la fete, pulling us back then catapulting the bass like an elastic band. Wearing a grey string vest with his trademark floppy hair pulled back in to a knot, he mixed our Guetta favourites, with solid classics (Love is Gone, remember that golden oldie?), with unexpected hits like Blur's Woohoo.

Showtek, who plays five of the nineteen nights, then took to the booth at half five but this is Ibiza and not once did the energy dip all night. It's an event that really isn't for the fainted hearted; the power charged percussion is punishing and really shows off Pacha's impeccable sound system. The season boasts a fantastic array of guests with the likes of EDM giants Nicky Romero, Afrojack and Chuckie all swinging by to join Guetta on the decks throughout the summer. This is THE party that everyone on the island wants to be at so grab those tickets before they sell out…un….deux…. trois GO!
