Two announcements for both young and old live music fans in Ibiza, with the latest additions to the Hard Rock Hotel's inaugural season in the form of pop princess Ellie Goulding and reggae rockers UB40.
The first of these acts to take to the spanking new Hard Rock stage is UB40, who will be spilling their vino tinto all up in your faces on Friday the 27th of June. You could hardly have made it through the 80s and 90s in the UK without stumbling across the feel-good reggae tunes of this outfit and over thirty years since formation the band is still going strong. You can expect a lot of long-time Ibiza characters to emerge from the hills for this event.
Then on Friday the 8th of August, Miss Goulding arrives with her silky soft voice and rocking live band. Singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding is one of the most in-demand acts in England right now; she has bagged multiple Brit awards and been remixed by any EDM producer worth his salt and is now a globally adored pop star with genuine musical talent to back her position.
Goulding and UB40 join already announced Nile Rodgers with Chic, Robin Thicke and Snoop Dogg (held at Ushuaïa, on account of his many legions of fans). Hard Rock Hotel is clearly cherry picking from the upper echelons of the music industry and we can't wait for these gigs to provide a top rate antidote to our many hours (willingly offered) spent listening to club music. Here's hoping for some proper classic rock announcements to come from Hard Rock soon, however, so it can truly live up to its name as not just a live music venue and hotel, but a true home of Rock'n'Roll.
