We’ve made a lot of noise on Spotlight against the proposed plan of exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons off the coasts of Ibiza and Formentera, and the opposition to the scheme continues to mount. In this case, solidarity for the cause comes the way Ibiza knows best – with a fiesta!
Gala Night party promoters The Zoo Project and charity group Alianza Mar Blava are combining their efforts for a one-off charity gig this Saturday the 10th of May at the incredible Gala Night venue in Benimussa Park.
As the team at Zoo Project says, “Let’s get together and dance in solidarity against all oil exploration off the coasts of Ibiza and Formentera, raising some money for a good cause while we’re at it! Our futures depend on the environmental well being of these islands. Ibiza family, world family, let’s get together!”
A nice chunk of Ibiza’s local DJ talent has stepped forward in support of the cause; the afternoon will see Burnski, Tato, Italo Brutalo, Davina, Jonathan Tena, Milou, Defex, JeanCedric, Gael, Iban Mendoza, Z!on, Tom Pool, Claudio Ricci, Donaes & Ken Abel, Dave Mantra and Esteban all take to the decks.
A minimum €5 donation will be collected from all attendees, all of which goes straight towards the Alianza Mar Blava campaign against the oil drilling. The aim of Aliza Mar Blava is, “…to preserve the environmental wealth that makes the Balearic Islands such a unique place and to ensure its citizens continued employment and welfare. Future generations also deserve the right to inherit an environment preserved in good condition.”
Gala Night is always a fantastic venue for a day party – and what better excuse to go then protecting the beautiful ecosystem of the White Isle? We never miss a chance to go dancing for a cause…
