It was only last week that we announced the addition of Lily Allen, Madness, Ella Eyre, Dan Croll and Krept & Konan to the initial lineup revealed at the start of the month. With these five acts joining HAIM, The 1975, Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah and Bombay Bicycle Club - amongst others - we already had an impressive lineup for the Ibiza Rocks 2014 season.
There were of course some gaps still to be filled, and in old school 'news flash' style we recieved an email this morning with the very fresh news that The Kooks would be headlining the Rocks stage on Wedneday 10th September - the week before the closing party - and that Jake Bugg would be the second artist to return to the Rocks stage for a third time on Wednesday 16th July.
Whilst The Kooks were enjoying huge international success around the years of 2006, with tracks such as 'She Moves In Her Own Way' and 'Naive', they have - to the mainstream at least - been relatively adbsent from our radio waves and tv screens for the last few years as they embarked upon tours around the world. Naturally, the Ibiza Rocks team remained huge fans throughout, welcoming them to the Ibiza stage in 2009 and 2010.
This year, they are back again with a new release, titled 'Down', on the horizon and set for consumption on the 20th April, as well as a UK tour in May. Ibiza Rocks have clocked on to this 'revival' in to the wider public eye and those on island mid-September will be treated to a full live show from the Brighton based boys. Depending on the headliner for the 3rd September, this could prove to be one of the strongest final months Ibiza Rocks have had in recent memory.
"We're well excited to be dropping into the magic islands of Ibiza and Mallorca this summer - definitely rocks." - The Kooks
Initially there was a track to show who The Kooks were here, but this film from MTV probably shows more about who The Kooks are and their music, but more importantly why they love Ibiza. Tehy're a bunch of louts. Their words, not ours.
Jake Bugg will play the Rocks stage on Wednesday 16th July, right at the peak of the season. He will be making it his third gig at the Ibiza Rocks stage, like The Kooks, but with one difference - his appearances are over three consecutive years. In 2012, Jake supported the impressive Ben Howard, then in 2013 he was awarded the honour of the highly coveted headline slot at the opening party.
Jake Bugg has been a revelation with one of the most unqieu voices and styles of his generation, harping back to styles many of the Ibiza Rocks crowd will be too young to have experienced. His music has influences of folk and rock music, with tracks such as 'Lightning Bolt' and 'Two Fingers' gaining most popularity with the masses.
Jake is a major feature at gigs and festivals around the world and Ibiza Rocks have done well to secure him for a third year running, no word yet on who the support will be... but perhaps, for whoever it is, this will the first of their three appearances at Ibiza Rocks too. It is the tradition, after all.
"Looking forward to playing Ibiza Rocks for the third year running. It's always a good crowd and a great atmosphere." - Jake Bugg
