Ibiza Jobs For The 2014 Season Part 1

Apart from our own internships, there are many jobs available on this island this summer. Check them out.

In the run up to the 2014 summer season in Ibiza, we will scour our sources for jobs and internships available on the island. No matter if you are a seasoned Worker or an inexperienced Ibiza Virgin, we hope you find these articles helpful. Any questions, please ask.

Cream Ibiza

Cream is one of the longest running club nights on the island and has a solid reputation that has been built up during that time. Their Thursday night parties at Amnesia are huge, knocking together some of the biggest artists from the worlds of trance, house and electro to pack out the club week after week.

They will reveal further details of the application process, but for now, we can say that they will hold their recruitment day on the last Thursday of May (29th) at Kanya. More on this soon.

Pukka Up

Pukka Up have been the most successful, and popular, boat party operators on the island for several years now and we highly recommend them for anyone wishing to simply have fun, or work with them.

Pukka Up are very image focused, with their PR’s and dancers being highly visible, decked out in the bright pink and white Pukka Up themed uniforms and strutting their stuff around the streets, clubs and boats island wide, so if you want to get out and about whilst you work, be a part of a friendly team, and enjoy some great perks, then Pukka Up is the place for you.

How to apply: Send a 100 word bio about why you should work for Pukka Up this summer on Ibiza, along with a recent photo of yourself, to anna@pukkaup.com.

If you are successful, you will be taken through to the next stage. You will be contacted by the Pukka Up team and invited to Pacha London on the afternoon of 22nd March 2014 for an interview with the Pukka Up recruitment panel.

This date coincides with the Pukka Up 11th Birthday celebrations on the river Thames and at Ministry of Sound, so worth putting the effort in and combining the two!

Ibiza Rocks

Ibiza Rocks are moving into their 9th season on the island, having just announced the first proper wave of artists to play on the Rocks stage in San Antonio this summer. We’re talking The 1975, HAIM, Chase & Status and Bombay Bicycle Club, with plenty more to come yet.

Ibiza Rocks are extremely proactive in promoting something different across the island. They have 2 cafe/bar/restaurants, boat parties, several shops, Ibiza Rocks gigs on Wednesdays and We Are Rockstars - the DJ led alternate version - on Fridays. So, if you're thinking of working for these guys, there are many avenues open to the right candidate.

Details on recruitment days for the Ibiza Rocks Host Team aren't available as yet, with the website stating they are closed, but we have been told more days will be available (likely end of April, start of May). Until we know about that, there are other options available.

Ibiza Rocks are looking for a Hotel Entertainments and Excursions Coordinator, an Overseas Delivery Administration and HR Assistant, an Overseas Delivery Team Manager, an Overseas Delivery Area Manager and a Box Office Controller. Details via the link.

Ocean Beach Ibiza

When Ocean Beach first opened the gates to the venue back in 2012 it was a much needed gift of luxury and quality to the San Antonio area. Most of the other resorts across the island of Ibiza had their own version of an outdoor, daytime pool and party venue. The closest San Antonio had was the Tropical Pool (not tropical enough) and Kanya (too small for larger parties). Located just around the bay past the likes of Ibiza Rocks Bar and Linekers, OB is a beacon of change for the region and no doubt a sign of things to come in the future for the area.

There are a wide variety of positions available at Ocean Beach, they include waiters/waitresses, bartenders, bar runners, front of house, promotional girls, PRs and female dancers. All positions require some level of previous experience.

Successful applicants will be contacted from 6th March 2014 - when the recruitment closes - onwards with those taken through to the next stage being invited to an interview with Ocean Beach Management at the venue itself. Here they will discuss positions available, hours of work and wage.

Head over to their website to complete your application. You will be required to submit a updated CV and three non-professional photos, including one full length photo.

Zoo Project

The Zoo Project has been a mainstay of island life for many years now, originally running parties on Saturdays alone, they have now expanded to host Wednesdays and their own boat party too.

Saturdays are the main party days with Gala Night, 10 minutes drive out of San Antonio, a faux-former zoo (there was never a real zoo here, contrary to popular belief), being fully open to allow several thousands animals to go wild in the park. Wednesdays are hosted by the Zoo Project label - Channel Zoo - with cool guests but a smaller gathering. The Noah’s Ark boat parties run as a pre-party on Saturdays.

Zoo Project are looking for a team of highly motivated individuals to fill their positions for the 2014 season, including ticket sellers (PRs). There are usually more positions available, such as entertainers and makeup artists, with these announced at a later date.

If you are interested in joining the team, then send an email to jules@thezooprohect.com for more details.

Space Ibiza

As one of the most famous clubbing brands around the world, Space Ibiza is a hugely prestigious company to work for. Every year they employ hundreds of staff to entertain, serve, clean and organise the clubs daily goings on. Whilst details of what positions are available each year aren’t available directly, it is important to note that they do retain many of their staff year after year with many people waiting a long time to get their chance.

Head to the website, via the link below, and complete the form. Attach your updated CV and all of this information will be added to the Space Beach Club S.A. employment database so that when a position does come up, the relevant recruiter can simply access the database and contact the best candidates.

Only candidates who have residence and a work permit in Spain will be considered.

Sankeys Ibiza

Sankeys Ibiza is king of the underground, with a dark and basic warehouse type venue to boot. Although the Ibiza branch of the Sankeys machine is relatively new to the island, Sankeys Manchester is one of the longest running clubs in the UK, and they now have a club open in New York City and a foothold in London coming soon. This is a growing company with many opportunities to get involved.

For now though, Sankeys are looking for people to join their Online Promotions Team. The job will involve you promoting their events on Ibiza and back in the UK through your own social media networks. In return for spreading the word, you can enjoy exclusive access and benefits to events and content.

To apply, send an email to sankeys@ibizadigitalmedia.com with your name, age, where you live, number of Facebook friends, number of Twitter followers, number of Instagram followers, your top 5 DJs, your favourite record label and the last event you went to at Sankeys. You can add anything extra you feel is relevant to the position.

Departure Ibiza

Departure is the island’s leading workers party, run by workers, for workers. The event is heavily involved in Sankeys programme, often hosting the second or third room at the club. If not here, you can find the parties at Itaca in San Antonio every week.

Whilst they will be looking for PRs on the island, for now they are recruiting budding DJs to join their team of residents all season long.

To apply, head to their Facebook page and show them your mad DJ skillz.

Ibiza Spotlight Forums

Our very own Spotlight Forums are an invaluable source of information on all things Ibiza, and beyond. Much asked questions such as “how much spends will I need”, “how much are taxis”, “what are the best hotels/beaches/bars/clubs” and so on, will all have answers already. But if there are any questions you need an answer to, the forums are your best chance of having them seen to.

We have a specific Ibiza Worker section, where you can find useful information on what you will need to work (legally) on the island, hints tips and general advice. You will also find that companies and individuals post jobs for the year on these pages, so it is worth checking back regularly.

Advice

Get to Ibiza early - positions go fast. We're talking April or latest May.

Apply for your NIE at the main Police Station in Ibiza Town (near McDonalds) as soon as you can.

Bring printed CVs, photos and a copy of your NIE to every interview. Have extra copies ready.

Don’t flog your heart out for a ticket selling company on the basis of promises. Be wise in your choice of work otherwise you will spend all day working with barely anything to show for it.

If you choose to come to the island mid or even late season, be aware that many positions come available as people run out of money, become tired of the lifestyle, or simply get lost on their way home from the club.

Sell yourself - they are looking for hard working, happy, creative people to help sell and promote their brand/product. Do well and it could be a foot in the door to a career or life on the island, long term.

Warning

There are many illegal ways of working on the island, none of which we recommend of course. We welcome people from all walks of life to our beautiful island, but you must respect the rules, regulations and laws as if it was your own country. The island survives predominantly off tourism revenue for a relatively short period of time during the year. Respect the island, the people and contribute to the growth and future of Ibiza and you will be welcomed back. Disrespect any of this, and we will be waiting at the airport with a stern look of disapproval on our faces and a 'no entry sign'. You don’t want us to be disappointed in you now, do you?
