Ibiza Rocks is staring down the barrel of a 9th season at the forefront of the battle against those who feel Ibiza should be reserved for dance music, or more specifically, techno. You see, these people have forgotten all about the 60s, 70s, 80s and partially the 90s which weren't always so dance focused. The island has a long history with many different genre's of music and Ibiza Rocks continues to challenge the status quo.
The Ibiza Rocks season is long. 3 months, 16 weeks, 105 days from opening to closing party. 4th June until 17th September. Time to reveal a few more acts for whom the Ibiza Rocks stage will surely be a highlight of the year.
We have already announced the first two headliners for the opening party on Wednesday 4th June and the week later - HAIM and The 1975 respecitvely. Support for these two headliners come in the form of two bands who will be looking for a brekathrough year in 2014. Breton support HAIM and Wolf Alice support The 1975. Good start. On the 18th June Yorkshire lad John Newman will headline with the support of another exciting talent for 2014 - Chloe Howl.
July is kicked off with the return of Tinie Tempah, a familiar face on the Ibiza Rocks stage, on the 2nd July. Two weeks later, on the 16th July, Ibiza Rocks will celebrate its 9th year on the island. The lineup is yet to be announced, but last year we had Beady Eye (of former Oasis heritage), so you can be sure of a big booking or two. For the remaining two Wednesday's of July, we have two big acts you'll like. First up, everyones favourite ginger haired, Lego loving gentleman - Ed Sheeran. Next? Rudimental. Live. The aforementioned John Newman has worked with Rudimental before so this could be interesting.
August will be a suitably epic month for peak season with things starting with 2013 debutants Bastille making a return to headline on the 7th. Skip ahead a bit and the 20th August will be a special night with 'special guests' as yet unannounced. Seven days later and Clean Bandit will also make their return to the Rocks stage after supporting Ellie Ghoulding for her fantastic performance in 2013.
Lastly, we have the closing party headliner. This band supported Biffy Clyro in 2010 (who incidentally also played again in 2013) and have an unexplained membership at an obscure bikers collective - Bombay Bicycle Club.
That completes the announcement for now, but with much more to come, this is only a taster of the goodness that will grace the Ibiza Rocks stage this year. Check back soon.
