The Ibiza rumour mill has been working over-time lately and we can now confirm one of the big rumours circulating on the island in the last few months: Gatecrasher is taking over Eden Ibiza.
After a change to new Dutch owners for the 2013 season and a major refurbishment, the San Antonio's 3000 capacity superclub Eden will now turn into Gatecrasher Ibiza. After months of negotiations, with various other brands also bidding, the Birmingham Gatecrasher crew have succeeded in taking over the venue.
What does this mean to Ibiza and San Antonio especially? On the one hand the island loses a very well-known club name. Eden was born in 1999 and lasted for 15 years. But the venue already existed before the era of Eden (and was called Star Club and Kaos back then) and we believe Gatecrasher getting involved with the club is a huge opportunity for the venue as well as for San Antonio. After last year's remodeling, Eden turned into a very sleek and modern place with an extremely powerful 100k Gold Incubus Void sound system. Gatecrasher might continue with a few of the nights happening last summer, but will definitely be adding a few exciting new ones too.
Things are certainly improving for the venue and for San Antonio's clubbing scene as a whole, seeing a much needed injection of the new and a rejuvinaion of the parties on offer to those staying on the West side of the island.
More information on the parties as we have it.
