Editors' Choice - 11th July 2013

Special Offers, "Must Knows!", hotels, villas, restaurant reviews, clubbing news, things to do - it's all here, each week, every week, Summer Season 2013.

Only the Good.

Recently I was challenged by someone who queried why all of our reviews were good? Were we sycophantic, just writing great things about venues and events who paid us the most for advertising?

The honest truth is that wherever you go in the World, Ibiza regrettably included, you will at some point in time encounter poor food, service and outrageous prices.

Just as frankly, I consider my own time quite precious so when I am looking to book a holiday, I don't want to wade through endless bad reviews of establishments to avoid. I want to read about the good, book a table and get on with enjoying my hard earned break. Nor do I want to read articles that have been generated simply because that venue advertises with that website.

The trust and confidence placed in Ibiza Spotlight is my first check point for every single decision. With over 250,000 people, from over 64 countries around the World having booked their holidays with us, not to mention my own personal pride in how great Ibiza can be, offering our audience - you - the absolute best is paramount.

It's not always easy. Reviewing a venue and having to write or call them afterwards and say 'I am so sorry but we really can't recommend you' is ghastly - and we do do it. Twice already this season, sadly. You'll seldom read about it on the website because we're not here to waste your time.

For complete clarity, nearly half of the venues and events we do tell you about don't advertise with us. It doesn't matter. They're good, we want you to have a fantastic time and we think you should know about them!

I do say to people however - "If it's not on Ibiza Spotlight it's either lousy or we haven't gone there yet. If you want the good however, please, here are our recommendations - we offer them sincerely."

Restaurant of the Week

Sa Punta restaurant in Talamanca is one of those hidden holiday gems. So we had been told anyway... With 'Pacha' and 'celebrities' frequently whispered in the same sentence with the restaurant, we decided to go and check it out...

Review: Sa Punta Restaurant

Hotel of the Week

The Marconfort El Greco in Portinatx is an all-inclusive, family friendly, beach front hotel with fantastic facilities including its own water park and a full day time and evening entertainment programme. For a little more peace and comfort, there are three well-appointed, fully equipped, 2-bedroom suites with their own private pool and sun terrace.

Villa of the Week

Villa Can Andreu.

Top quality villa with 3 double bedrooms in the main house and an annexe with 1 ensuite double bedrooms (extra price) - beautiful poor area with pool bar and well kept gardens, very private and conveniently situated close to Cala Jondal and the Salinas beach. Wi-Fi, Ipod Dock, Sat TV. Only 7km from Ibiza Town.

Now with a Last Minute Offer - from August 17 to 24 - before 450 euros now only 382 euros per night

Fashion Tip of the Week

I love big butts and I cannot lie. All hail JLo and Beyonce for proving booty is beautiful. If you too are blessed with junk in the trunk then choose hipster and high-waisted bikini bottoms. Ironically the less material the better when it comes to dressing curvier bodies. Don't be tempted to cover up with big boy shorts. They just make everything look bigger and add an extra dimension.

The key is in the cut and tailoring. Nowadays you can find incredible swimwear pieces that have magical slimming panels. Check out the beautifully tailored couture range from www.sumarie.com/

Clubbing

Stivi, Head of Clubbing ramps it up:

"Apart from all the nights my team are reviewing, they're also getting in touch with some of the biggest and best artists in the world of electronic music. Lately, the Spotlight Clubbing Team spoke to M.A.N.D.Y., Jon Rundell, The Lovely Laura, Audiofly and last but definitely not least, Carl Cox, who's just kicked off another season of crazy Tuesdays at Space. So if you're interested in knowing more about the dance music industry, make sure you regularly have a read through our clubbing magazine where you'll find a lot of interesting features.

News is that, after having to postpone their opening date again, Booom! Ibiza is now set to open on Saturday 13th July with Defected In The House. Tickets for this and all other July events at the Ibiza marina venue are now available on Spotlight. Line ups and tickets for August and September shall be in soon too. We're well curious to finally see the fully refurbished club now!"

UPDATE 12th July: According to latest news, Booom! now only opens on Monday 15th July. The Defected In The House opening party is being moved to Eden in San Antonio.

For and on behalf of the team at Ibiza Spotlight, we wish you and yours a fantastic weekend!
