Already the home of Armin van Buuren’s trance expedition and El Row’s fancy dress-fuelled night, Thursday sees a new and exciting party hit Privilege. The Arena will take place every Thursday from 11th July until 19th September in The Vista Club and Vista Blue, supplying you with an eclectic mix of highly regarded artists and DJs.
And of course, being Privilege, and the home of over the top performances and themes for example El Row’s famous fancy dress, this night is no exception. Aside from the musical excitement, just like back in the Amphitheatres in Old School Italy the performance and visuals are going to be of epic proportions. This fast-becoming cool and quirky venue will be transformed into an Ancient Rome arena, complete with spectacular production and a full-scale movie set with live creatures (fingers crossed it’ll be along the lines of ‘Gladiator’ and the famous chariot scene from ‘Ben Hur’).
Tickets for The Arena are a mere €30. However, the price has no connection with the line-ups at this new night. Expect a tech-house focus, but in true Arena style, there are no real rules. 2ManyDjs are playing the opening tonight, and also on the 25th July and 1st August, and their performances both musically and visually are always impressive. There’s Todd Terry and The Zombie Kids on the bill one week followed by the likes of Anja Schneider and Marc Houle the next. On top of all this there will be regular visits from DJ Sneak. We can only hope that they’ll all don laurel wreaths as well as headphones in fitting with the theme.
18th July sees a Deepperfect Records special. The Italian tech-house label presents Umek, Stefano Noferini, Amine Edge, Sod and Brech and this is definitely not one to miss.
Starting from tonight, every Thursday you can look forward to the melodic Gladiators of our time in a musical show-down. Togas optional but very much encouraged. With such colossal line-ups in a lavish setting, investing in a cheap bed sheet is the least you can do.
