Unbelievably this was my first ever Cadenza party at Pacha. I’m not sure why I’ve waited so long, nor how. I’ve been to a fair few of the parties over at Ushuaïa and it’s a great way to spend a Thursday evening with Luciano and the Vagabundos, so I finally got off my arse and checked the Sunday party out. As you would expect it provided bucket loads of pleasure to both my ears and eyes with Nic Fanciulli, Robert Dietz and of course Luciano playing, whilst the visual delights came in the form of the authentic and traditional club décor at Pacha, and of course the dancers. Oh, those dancers…! We talk about them quite a lot here at Spotlight, so let’s just say we appreciate them for all that they are. Kudos!
The venue had a carnival feel about it, almost with elements of old-school funfairs with the ceiling draping making the main room feel really small and comfortable, and whilst it was of course packed, there was still enough room to dance about the place. All round pleasant times. High fives must be sent round to the crew at Pacha for the transformation the club has undergone for this season, the new soundsystem booms loudly, and the addition of the much improved DJ booth that Luciano was always such a fan of as a more permanent fixture has done wonders to the atmosphere, particular as Luciano likes to have the hydraulic DJ booth a little lower than most. Often DJ booth can be so far separated from the crowd that you lose that intimacy, but for this occasion I felt involved with those in the booth, and no doubt they to us.
The music flowed beautifully as Fanciulli and Dietz both went back-to-back, ensuring the room rocked and throbbed from start to finish, with Luciano dropping a great track from 2006; Thomas Melchoir & Luciano – ‘Father’. This track represented the vibe for the whole party really, cool percussive sounds with a great bassline to groove too with a really organic progression from track to track. It felt like just one long track, slowly building, slowly changing, just progressing and sounding better and better as the minutes went by.
I’m obviously going to have to go back several times this season, and now I have my top hat sorted thanks to the kind and generous Vagabundos folks I feel I can really get involved. I’m as near as makes no difference a vagrant anyway, I may as well do it in style.
