For the Ibiza history buffs, Café Olé was the original name and source of one of the most iconic parties in the history of Space: Matinée. After Matinée defected to Amnesia, Café Olé was resurrected in 2009, setting up a worthy party-opponent to rival its prodigious offspring.
A self-appointed ‘poly-sexual fiesta’, Café Olé has made a name for itself on the island as a destination for clubbers looking for something beyond just lights and beats. Every Saturday Space’s insides will be sprinkled with acrobats, drag queens, burlesque dancers, actors, singers and sparkles – lots and lots of sparkles.
Musically, we can welcome the return of Café Olé residents Danny Leblack, Rafha Madrid and the House South Brothers (Pablo Kopanos And Manuel Moore), with the new additions of Marco Loco, Borja Delanera and the fledgling Spanish force that is Danny Avila. By way of embellishment to this solid list of resident DJs, the season will be peppered with guest appearances from The Japanese Popstars and Fedde Le Grand early in the season and both Kaskade and Roger Sanchez at the closing party.
Determined not to limit itself to DJs, Café Olé will also feature provocative performances from the world-famous transsexual Amanda Lepore, singers Crystal Waters and Ultra Naté, much-loved 70s group Boney M and versatile performers Vinila Von Bismark, Bimba Bose and David Delfin – abundant alliteration at no extra charge.
Saturday Parties on rotation will be Burlesque Café Olé, Olé Back to Disco Café, Café Olé is Pervert and, new to this season, Motel Café Olé, hosted by the Spanish actress Rossy de Palma (described my many as a Picasso-come-to-life). One can see that Café Olé has pulled out all stops this year and absolutely no two Saturdays will be alike.
