This summer Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel will be hosting a wide variety of parties, catering to the more glamorous clubber as well as the notorious party animal. Brand new to 2012, Pooldisco takes over Saturdays at the luxurious venue to host its day to nighttime party each week from tomorrow until 22nd September.
Fresh from the quirky Shoreditch party scene in East London, this cool, chic and unique brain child of promoter Mark Herman is undeniably going to bring something exciting and sexy to Playa d'en Bossa each week. With impressive resident DJ's and special guests this party is not only perfectly suited to Ushuaïa by its name but also by style and concept. Here we catch up with the man behind the party to find out what Pooldisco is really about and how he has prepared for the grand launch tomorrow...
You started Pooldisco 5 years ago in London, what is the concept behind the party?
A party for everyone which is not only fashionable but also very slickly produced with an amazing vibe and energy.
You have worked extensively within both fashion and music, what gave you the push to go into event planning?
I've actually been involved with the clubbing industry for many years; working for Ministry of Sound for 5 years at the beginning and then with The Cross and I also worked on the launch of Fabric.
Your Pooldisco party has bagged itself a weekly residency at the plush Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza this summer, tell us what this event is going to bring to the party each week?
I will be bringing London style performers, hosts and DJs mixed with international talent... total class!
You began Pooldisco in Shoreditch House 5 years ago, tell us how you are going to transfer the East London vibe to the Balearics?
I'm flying it all in!
Sam Divine, Severino and DJ ONNO will be regular features at the parties this summer, can you tell us a bit about any other artists that might play?
Our residents are amazing, emerging but awesome; Pooldisco can be a window for talent. We are also having Dani Casarano from Cadenza, The Neverdogs, The Shack and Tom Stephan.
What should we expect sound wise from the party?
Cool, sexy, classy house music which is both old and new... sometimes with a disco flavour!
You are clearly trying to incorporate fun, music and entertainment into this event; what can we expect visually from the party?
Amazing visuals from Microchunk.
Have you got any surprises up your sleeve for your debut year in Ibiza?
Yes, many... come and see!
Your opening party on the 23rd June has a jam packed line-up, how else are you going to ensure that people want to come back to party with Pooldisco week after week?
The word will be out that this event is not to be missed.
How do you think it will stand out amongst the other Ushuaïa parties?
Its styling is Brit cool!
Will you be continuing the event in London or will Ibiza be your new home turf?
I have some plans for some very special London Film Studio Pooldisco parties.
