Baluard de Santa Llucia
Once inside the walls of the fortified old town of Dalt Vila and at the foot of the cathedral, which towers over Eivissa sits the Baluard de Santa Llúcia, home to four cannons which stand firmly in their parapets as if still awaiting attack.
It is from this area that beautiful views across the Puerto de Ibiza can be seen along with several of the local dogs catching some rays on the tops of the buildings. The white washed walls, terracotta rooftops, cobbled paths and vine covered balconies of the old town are captured in all their glory from this height; you can even see as far as neighbouring Talamanca. Aside from offering breathtaking views the Baluard de Santa Llúcia also sets the scene for various events over the summer, one being the Medieval festival which is perfectly suited to the historic surroundings and is held between the 10th -13th May.
In contrast to this event the International Music Summit is also held here a few weeks later, on the 23rd -25th May and will showcase some of the biggest names in the music scene with live performances. The ruins are not only a great token of the islands history but they also manage to embrace the huge electronic music scene which Ibiza is famous for.
Plaza del Parque
The Plaza del Parque, located next to Vara de Rey is a pedestrianised tree-lined square surrounded by cafes and restaurants. During the day this area is a peaceful haven to people grabbing a bite to eat but by night the square slowly attracts a range of diverse entertainers from magicians to dancers who aim to wow the crowds.
Madagascar is just one of the restaurants in Plaza del Parque where you can tuck into a tasty pizza at great value and with seating outside you're able to watch the hustle and bustle of Ibiza town. The Plaza del Parque is also a great place for shopping as there is a selection of boutiques and unique shops such as Natura which sits on the corner and sells goodies like candles, girly treats, light airy clothing and fantastic books.
Marina Botafoch
Although Ibiza town has a spectacular history it also has a modern and luxurious side to it that attracts the rich, the famous and the envious year after year. The port of Ibiza town sees many plush yachts berth there during the summer and of course tourists and locals alike can't help but have a nose and wish that they could jump onboard. Marina Botafoch however is even more impressive and lavish with and array of luxury cruisers, a wide range of restaurants and a selection of boutiques.
Cafe Sidney in particular offers great food and overlooks the harbour making it a perfect place to relax with a sangria whilst taking in the scenery. Opposite the Marina you will find Bar Flotante on Talamanca beach which is the ideal pit stop after a night out and offers the finest coffee and patisserie snacks. Where better to chill out and nurse your head whilst your feet are dipped in the sand.
