Don't get your hopes up, it's an article about airlines and nothing to do with Ibiza's famously expensive clubs and lifestyle bars. It seems that the rise and rise of the low cost, budget airlines continues unabated, according to statistics released by the Institute of Tourism Studies.

They've analysed figures at Ibiza airport which show that the vast majority of passengers are now travelling on budget airlines. In the first seven months of this year of the 888,000 passengers, 679,000 (76%) flew on a budget plane, that's 13% more than the same period in 2010.

However, the minority travellers on the traditional airlines are still easy enough to spot at the airport - they're the ones with enormous bags queuing for ages at the check in desks!

Interestingly, over 20 million budget travellers have visited Spain up to the end of July this year and over 4.4 million of them were in the Balearic Islands – more than any other province in the country.

Why would that be, I wonder?
