MONDAY
Mondays are techno heaven in Ibiza, with not one but two unmissable destinations! Start the raving early with Circo Loco at DC10 from 4pm. One of the world’s most famous underground parties, expect to catch forward-thinking DJ’s like Tania Vulcano, Dyed Soundorom, Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler. With an anything goes attitude and feel good vibes, it’s unsurprising that this is an underground clubber’s favourite.
But the night doesn’t stop there. Around 2am move onto Cocoon at superclub Amnesia. Started more than 10 years ago by techno pioneer Sven Vath, it continues to be one of the busiest nights in Ibiza. With heavyweight line-ups each week Papa Sven is joined by the likes of Loco Dice, Marco Carola, and Ricardo Villalobos. And if you haven’t experienced one of them closing Amnesia Terrace at 7am, you haven’t done underground Ibiza.
TUESDAY
Keep your ear to the ground for Cocoon after-parties. There may be paying parties starting straight after Amnesia closes or from midday head to Punta Arabi in Es Canar for a daytime pool party with well-known house and techno DJ’s each week. From time to time throughout the season there are also wristband only after-parties with a DJ from the Cocoon line-up. Ask around in the club or near the DJ booth but the wristbands will be strictly limited and mainly given out to Cocoon friends and workers.
WEDNESDAY
‘From Disco to Techno’ at DC10 does exactly what it says, alternating each week from some of the most cutting-edge names like Visonquest and Art Department, to disco icon Tony Humpries and the new wave sound of Jamie Jones. Starting at midnight and hosted on the sharper sound system of the Main Room, it’s your second DC10 fix just as you’ve recovered from the chaos of Monday.
New for summer 2011 is Sankeys Ibiza and Wednesdays mean Carnival. Showcasing up and coming underground house and techno DJ’s that aren’t yet headlining the superclubs, it’s a great venue to see UK names like Subb-an, Jordan Peak, Laura Jones, Enzo Siragusa and Robert James.
Carnival at Sankeys
THURSDAY
Kehakuma at Space has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years and is now a key date in any underground enthusiast’s diary. With up to 3 rooms open resident Nick Curly leads proceedings, joined by some of the scene’s most in demand artists – Maya Jane Coles, Jamie Jones, Nina Kraviz and Seth Troxler. It never fails to go off on the Terraza with it’s amazing sound system and an up for it music savvy crowd.
Another club that can boast a top of the range sound system is Sankeys hosting Monza on Thursdays. Currently the club’s busiest night, strong line-ups include Tania Vulcano, Tato, Dorian Paic, Nima Gorji, Kabale und Liebe, Vera and none other than Ricardo Villalobos confirmed for the closing party. A great mix of Spanish, Italian and British ravers all under one roof.
FRIDAY
Final trip of the week to DC10 for Pandemonium. Now in its second year, Tania Vulcano’s party is proving very popular. Joined by a guest DJ each week in the Main Room, the party has already been rammed this summer for Cassy and Dan Ghenacia, and we can’t wait to see what will happen when Art Department, Kerri Chandler and Dyed Soundorom turn up later in the season!
SATURDAY
Head to Underground club in San Rafael – a converted villa with friendly staff, an intimate dancefloor and serene, dimly lit outside bar area. Rarely promoted, the club is discovered by word of mouth so has become a popular meeting ground for workers and locals. Getting busy around 2am, the music policy is deep house and techno with regulars like Nima Gorji. Always a warm, chilled atmosphere, it’s a must if you have only ever experienced Ibiza’s superclubs.
SUNDAY
Luciano and the Cadenza crew return to Pacha for Vagabundos, with all the big label names you would expect playing throughout the summer. Even though this is a party for underground ravers, feel free to dress up to match the decadent surrounds of beautiful Pacha nightclub. There are some dates especially worth looking out for this year, with exclusive or rare sets from Moodymann, dOP, Kenny Larkin and Stacey Pullen. While there is always a great atmosphere when Luciano is playing, make sure you check out the DJ’s in the Global Room for a more intimate party.
