Last week I returned to the Masquerade Motel a month since the opening and the crowd was noticeably bigger and the hysteria created by the Swedish trio had clearly begun on the White Isle, with Pacha filled to the rim with a mixture of VIP’s, Ibiza residents and party goers.
However this week I was here to indulge in the young Alesso’s proggy-tech warm up set as he had wowed me on the opening night with a faultless and crowd pleasing 2 hour set. He started his second set for The Masquerade Motel earlier than his last one at around half past 1. Similarly to the opening he blasted out Roxanne by Sting and The Police but since his debut Pacha performance on the 6th June a new energy and confidence was definitely apparent within the up and coming DJ’s set.
Smashing out some classic remixes with a progressive edge such as Fuck on cocaine and a Robyn track before Swedish House Mafia stepped into the booth, Alesso had the whole crowd buzzing and the atmosphere that both Pacha and Swedish House Mafia are famous for was back in the main room for another Monday night of uplifting house music.
Unfortunately the only thing that added a negative side to the night was that the event seemed like it had been oversold with not much space to move about. Unlike the opening I arrived a little later this time, so in future I’ll be sure to get there when the doors open to bag myself a comfortable plot.
Brought into the limelight by Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso who is only 18 has had a huge taste of fame this season and I predict huge things from one of the White Isle’s newest DJ’s. He has a certain charisma and raw talent that he unleashes out onto the crowd with each track and oozes the same kind of vibe as the Swede’s themselves. As a result Alesso’s set received a warm reception from the 4000 strong crowd and I’m sure we will see big things from Alesso in the near future.
