Ibiza Virgins: Buy Club Tickets online or wait?

If we had a euro for every time we've fielded this question. We try to make a balanced argument.

Ok, so as one of the main online ticket sellers for Ibiza clubs, we obviously have a vested interest in one side of this debate, but that doesn't mean we can't make a balanced (!?) case for why we think you should buy club tickets online.

Online

Cheaper - When you buy tickets online, they are between 5 and 20€ cheaper than what you'll pay at the club door. Quite often we have earlybird tickets on sale (cheapest anywhere) and should the ticket price increase suddenly mid-season, you are also protected from this price rise. Likewise, should ticket prices reduce, then we refund the difference. Our prices are official prices set by the promoters and clubs.

Guaranteed Entry - When you have bought a ticket from Spotlight, you are 100% guaranteed entrance to that party for that night. It doesn't matter how many people are being turned away for David Guetta at Pacha or how big the queue is for Tiesto at Privilege, you are one of the few who is getting in no matter what. Even when nights like Cocoon have been 'Full', internet ticket holders are granted entry.

Unrestricted Entry - Spotlight tickets are full tickets, so there is no last entry time, no in before midnight restriction, simply you go when you want as long as it is within the hours of accepted entry for the club. There is the very occassional exception to this rule, such as Space or Amnesia Opening/Closing, but that usually applies to all tickets and is rarely enforced anyway.

Guestlist - when you buy club tickets through Spotlight, you're immediately put on the club's guestlist and you'll stay there until you and only you enters the club. There are no tickets to lose, you just need to turn up with your ID to prove that you are who you are.

Queues - All internet ticket purchasers enter through a specific entrance just for those who have bought online, so you avoid the queue for people turning up on the door counting their change or those rooting around in their pocket for a piece of paper their rep gave them to get in.

Your choice - read all the info, watch the videos, check the reviews, listen to the music and make your own decision. This way you avoid being persuaded to go to a second rate party by a rep or random street ticket seller, thereby missing your favourite DJ in the process.....and all because they make a bit extra commission from said second-rate party!

More spending money - Ok so a bit of a spurious one here, but for many people, buying tickets with a debit or credit card (or via paypal) is regarded as a separate expense away from the money they eventually set aside for their time on the island. If you were to factor in club entry for a week's stay in Ibiza, you'd easily run to something above 200€. A big chunk of your spending money no doubt!

A familiarly busy scene for the main ticket entrance at Amnesia; internet ticket holders enter via a different queue.

Buy on the island

Cheaper - the official price of any tickets will never be cheaper than what's available on Spotlight. Sometimes, bars will knock a euro or two off ticket prices but you have to buy a drink (nearly always more than the amount you save!) to get this deal. Any vendor (bar, online, shop, etc) only has a certain margin to work with, you're just not going to find tickets 10-15€ cheaper on the island.

Free Entry Wristbands - It's well known that clubs in Ibiza employ teams of PRs to give out flyers, wristbands and other paraphernalia in an straight out attempt to seduce you to their party. Let's make it clear, 75% (maybe more) of the parties in Ibiza don't do free entry wristbands, it's only a select few and certainly not any of the most popular ones. None of the Pacha parties do this, neither do the likes of Cream, We Love, Cocoon, Circoloco or Tiesto. In fact, the nights for which you can usually find very cheap entry wristbands are those that have to be given away free to generate any interest.

Cheap Early Entry - one thing that you're more likely to find, although again not for any of the major parties, are cheaper entry wristbands that give a small discount if you get into the club really early. Try not to be fooled too easily though because you might save 10€ by getting into the club before midnight, but you'll be stood around waiting for hours for the night to get going and also spending way more than the 10€ you saved on Ibiza's renowned pricey drinks!

Guestlists - You might know a worker, who knows another worker, who knows a dancer at Cocoon, who promises you guestlist for the party. Pretty unlikely, although we'd advise against the hour long wait in the queue only to be turned away. In reality, the offer or chance of a free guestlist is no different from the free/cheap wristbands, you're probably only ever going to find it for the parties you (or anyone else for that matter) don't want to go to.

Finally, we know some people love buying on the island, as much as others love to have their tickets all sorted as soon as possible, so whatever your preference, happy ticket buying!
