There were two sure signs that Christmas is on its way in Ibiza this weekend. The lads from the town hall started putting up the giant Christmas tree in the main square, the Vara de Rey, and just across the road, in the Sala Ebusus, the Art Supermarket opened.
Incredibly, it's the 17th edition of the Art Supermarket which lasts until 5th January, a little longer than in years gone buy. It gives us poor people a chance to emulate Jaume Matas, the Conservative ex-President of the Balearic Government, by filling our palaces with works of art. With paintings on sale from €69 to €299, these are affordable prices, even in these recessionary days.
Alternatively, a nice painting might just make a good present for Christmas or the Three Kings?
