Ibiza October Weather

Anyone on holiday in Ibiza in October can't have failed to notice that the weather wasn't so good. Meteorologists have confirmed that Ibiza (and the other Balearic Islands) had lots more rain than is normal in the month, in some places, more than double the average rainfall fell!

A couple of tremendous storms with very high winds at the beginning and end of the month compounded the bad impression of the island's weather. The main ports, Denia, Valencia, Palma and Ibiza were all closed and many passengers on ships which had already sailed had to sit out the storms on the high seas.

In Ibiza, the direction of the wind badly affected boats in San Antonio harbour and many were washed up at the end of the bay around the Hawaii hotel and Arenal Beach. One poor French couple and their dog had to be rescued by the Guardia Civil Sub Aqua Squad and their boat is now smashed to smithereens, with their personal possessions scattered for many hundreds of metres around the coast.

Weather like this is unusual, and that's why it hit the headlines. With a bit of luck, next October will be back to normal, warm and comfortable by day, with maybe the odd shower, and a little chilly (bring a wrap or a jumper) at night.
