The very early Easter this year played havoc with visitor numbers in Ibiza. Last year when Easter fell in April, 49 hotels opened for the holiday because of its close proximity to the official May 1st start of the tourist season. In 2008 only 35 hotels opened!
With only 19000 clients this year as opposed to 36000 the previous one there is surely an argument (religious matters aside) for having a fixed Spring holiday in Mid April each year which would add
an extra couple of weeks to the season - and the weather's better too!
