Fun in San Antonio, Ibiza

The sun shone on Ibiza yesterday and nowhere more so than San Antonio.

The sun shone on Ibiza yesterday and nowhere more so than San Antonio where we're still celebrating the local Saint's day with lots of organised events. Over 1000 cyclists in some rather garish outfits took part in the “ Marcha Cicloturista d’es Porquet VII” - a pedalling version of a fun run.

The route took the cyclists out to Buscastell and Forada and back – around 15 km – and prizes were handed out for the best fancy dress. The leisurely pace meant a duration of about an hour and that everybody was fit and well to enjoy a giant paella for 700 people and live music from Grecobastos and Globe Brasil.

Meanwhile the sea bed of San Antonio bay was having its annual spring clean courtesy of local diving clubs. This year's haul of flotsam and jetsam was equally, if not more, fascinating than previous years and included shopping trolleys, bikes, car batteries, plastic chairs, traffic cones, hundreds of bottles and cans and the stars of the show a blue Mac laptop and a quad bike!!
Why would anyone throw a quad bike into the sea – a Mac you can understand – but a quad bike???????
