There's no doubt that the gay holiday sector makes an enormous contribution to the tourist economy of Ibiza. As we've already reported, the island is one of the top destinations for gay honeymooners, and of course the famous Calle de la Virgen street in Ibiza which is full of gay bars, restaurants and shops, draws the crowds from May to October.
Our first piece of gay news is that no less a person than the newly crowned Mister Bear International, Pedro Veral, will be bringing his mighty hirsuiteness to Angelo's bar in Sa Penya. An Ibiza regular, Pedro won the competition for world's hairiest man in San Francisco against opposition from all over the globe. He'll be installed at Angelo's new hair bear terrace, the first on the island dedicated to men who love the simian look.
If you're glad to be gay you'll want to join the 200 boys, girls and others of the lesbian, gay, transsexual and bisexual collective of Ibiza on their Gay Pride Parade. It starts at 19.00 on 28th June on the Boulevard Abel Matutes and sashays along the main streets of Ibiza town. It really is great fun for everybody whatever their denomination and we're all hoping that the big fluffy poodle dyed bright pink will be marching again!
