The ball will start rolling on the construction of the new Ibiza town bus station by the end of the week. By then, the company that is going to build the new station will have been chosen, which shouldn't be difficult as only one has tendered for the work, and the project will get underway within two months.
Projected to be ready in 14 to 18 months from its start on site, it will consist of a five-storey building which will also house the local police cells, taxation offices, shops, cafes and underground public parking for 700 cars.
Situated a little further out of town, in the Sa Colomina area, than the present bus stops it will have much better facilities for passengers than exist currently, and if it seems a long walk from the centre of town, don't worry - there'll be plenty of buses going that way!
