The National Institute for Statistics, where would we be without them, has come up with some interesting figures in its annual survey of water usage.
We in the Balearic Islands are bottom of the list of water consumption - each inhabitant getting through just 127 litres of water per day, only two thirds of the amount that the clean living people of Castilla la Mancha consume.
The NIS thoughtfully point out that the reason for this may be that the cost of water here is the second most expensive in Spain, at €1.48 per cubic metre.
We also think that in the northern regions of Spain, the water is actually drinkable, as opposed to the cocktail of salty ingredients which still pours from many taps here.
