The damaged cargo ship Rolón Sur, which was marooned on rocks near Formentera for several weeks last month has started its last voyage.
It was towed away from the Botafoc dyke, where it had been properly inspected to assess its damage, to the port of Aliaga in Turkey to be broken up.
The journey will be long and slow, because even if sea conditions are calm, the maximum speed attainable is 6 knots per hour, which means a voyage of at least 3 weeks.
Meanwhile in an effort to have at least one of the vessels from the Ibiza navy in a damaged condition at any one time, The Arlequin Rojo, which ferries cars and passengers from Ibiza to Formentera, crashed into the jetty at Formentera on Saturday whilst it was attempting to dock!
