Technical inspections of the properties in the rundown, crumbling areas of the Sa Penya/Marina areas of Ibiza town have been suspended because of lack of co-operation from the neighbours.
The inspections were being carried out to assess the state of the buildings as a prelude to their restoration and rehabilitation as part of the World Heritage Centre scheme.
It's very easy to be sympathetic with the inhabitants of Sa Penya - imagine someone knocking on your door telling you they're going to restore your house with taxpayers' money - you'd tell them where to go straight away!
