That was the question on everyone's lips this week when 4 channels disappeared from our viewing selection.
Under normal circumstances the signals from the Catalan channels, TV3, Canal 33, Canal 9 and Punt Dos, are transmitted from Barcelona and Valencia to a relay station in Mallorca, from whence they are sent to Ibiza via fibre optic cable.
A fault in the system left Ibiza without Catalan telly for a few days until normal service was resumed as soon as possible. With only about 5 other channels to watch local people were fuming over lack of televisual entertainment, so much so that no less a person than the Director General of Technology and Communications for the Balearic Government has now become involved.
She wants the signal to be transmitted more conventionally through the airwaves, as this way there is less likelihood of another disastrous malfunction.
