It's often been said that the cost of living in Ibiza is very high because of the high cost of housing due to a high demand and lack of space.
However new figures show that it's almost as expensive to die in Ibiza as it is to live. The cost of a burial on the island can vary from €1,500 for the simplest of services, up to €6,000, and the cost of cremation is €3,000 because the nearest crematorium is in Palma!
On the same subject, Ibiza council is investing over €90,000 in the town's cemetery to provide 88 new 'niches' (the holes in the wall where bodies are 'buried') with access for disabled visitors.
