It wasn't bad news for everybody when our record breaking hot summer saw the sun cracking the flags for 3 whole months non-stop.
Down at the salt pans of Las Salinas the extremely high temperatures had the effect of drying out the saline solution in double quick time and workers there will be harvesting more than 50,000 tonnes of salt, 30 to 40% more than last year.
The vast majority of the salt is exported to the Scandinavian countries where it is used to preserve cod, which oddly enough finds its way back to Ibiza as tasty delicacy 'bacalao.'
Our Scottish readers will also be happy to know that much of the salt from Ibiza is used to grit highland roads on icy August mornings.
